Yes I can confirm 5/8 id hose slips over the current stubby drain hose, see my pics for reference.

Interesting thread. Will be doing this ASAP. I had an 02 Dakota with same bull shit problem, although at 50 mph the water poured into passenger floor. Dealer replaced the back window gasket, passenger door gasket, and scratched their heads. The drain came straight out from factory.. I used a 1/2” copper service 90 and 5/8 rad hose.. end of water issues. You’d think car engineers would have figured out this by now. Instead I rode around with no passenger seat for a month until I figured it out!!

Thanks for pointing out this issue and your easy mod/solution. My A/C runs continuously down here and <$10 for preventative maintenance is money well spent IMO.

I'm in Los Angeles and just did this mod.
How long should it take for condensation to start coming out?
I just drove for an hour and it's still not leaking out....

Water should drain after a min or so. Mine drained immediately. As long as your ac is on and working and you installed it correctly.

It took a while for me to see condensation out of mine. At the time of the mod I was in the Bay Area so not too warm out. Warmer temps are going to see it sooner

If it's hot and you don't see any drips, you could have tighten the hose clamp too much. After a 30 minute drive here in in south Louisiana I can see a drip pattern into my garage and a large pool of water after a while sitting.

Not really. A humid day here is nothing compared to the Midwest. Today it’s 69%. What we have to be wary of are the super dry days with wind that elicit high fire danger.

fair enough! 60's% should be high enough to get some drips pretty quick.

I added a zip tie to the bottom of the hose where it routes through the frame, I guess I had tightened it too much.

I definitely see it dripping now.

Did you ever find anything out on the bracket rubbing? It looks like mine is doing the same thing.
