Yep, it uses the AC to dry the air so you're not blowing humid air on the glass you're trying to dry!

I did a mod back in the day on my tundra to disable this.

Here's how I anchored mine. SS rubber hose clamp and some SS hardware. Very solid.

Would anyone know if the condensation dripping down from the AC, would be anywhere near the frame next to the passenger side catalytic converter? I have been getting rust streaks on the frame next to the passenger side catalytic converter. ~Thanks

    Pretty much stock...
How far back from the firewall is the cat?

The A/C drain comes out of the firewall (passenger side) inside the engine bay, and drips down from there...

Does it seem like water dripping from the engine bay side of the firewall could make it to the cat?

I will have to see how close it is to the firewall, the next time I'm under my truck. I was just hoping the rust streaks I'm seeing, isn't corrosion coming from the inside of the box frame to the outside, because that is a common area that has perforations and causing the frame to be replaced.

I thought that rust colored stuff was just zinc coating.

No but there isn't any need to. If I were to do it again I'd get a size smaller clamp though.

^^^^hmmmm, good observation. I used heater hose, which stays more flexible since it is rubber. You could try that if you wanted to keep that drainage hose. Otherwise, I would think you'd be ok.

You are smart to treat your frame when it's still new, I wish I knew about Toyota's history of frame rot and would of treated the day I bought it too.

MAybe you just identified the reason that Toyota didn't make this a longer tube to begin with.

Is it normal to have surface rust on 2016 Tacoma frames already? Have they done anything to resolve the rust issue with the 2016? You would think with the settlement they would have addressed it.

No idea on resolving the issue. But, buy some oil based rustoleum paint to touch up any rust spots after lightly sanding them. I painted over any small chips in the paint, the a couple days later fluid filmed the entire underside. Definitely fluid film your frame, it will help protect from any other rust. Heck, I even painted the front suspension knuckles as I couldn't stand seeing them rusty. Now fluid film covers EVERYTHING!
