Do they dump salt all over the roads in Colorado

 

You think that’s bad wait until your door sill starts rusting out. Mine did, luckily I had it covered under warranty. And then there’s still the dreaded frame rust issues with the 3rd gens. Toyota QDR at its finest

 

Liquid MgCH, and there is a ratio of rock salt in the gravel that is spread on the roads.
This truck lived in the seacoast of NH from 11-1984 through 4-2004 at my dad's farm.

 

I thought they don't use any salt or de-icing on colorado roads except for i70 (thru the mountains) and mountain passes. Basically nothing is used, unless your heading into the mountains as far as I know.

 

Farm trucks tend to be some of the cleanest there are due to limited exposure to road salt. But any sort of rubberized undercoating works best when the vehicle is new (especially with proper prep). Any other time and it basically just seals in the flavor and rots things faster. (Also, Ziebart chose to use an aluminum F150 in one of its ads).

Yes, however I can tell you from actually visiting the state, even their old vehicles are in far better condition than anything from the rust belt.

 

even states/provinces that use salt but are western with an arid climate see far less rust than us east coasters with high humidity.

O.P just spray some fluid film or rust check etc in there. Problem solved

CDOT uses MgCh on all state roads including 291 which cuts straight through downtown Salida. CDOT also uses gravel/sand at certain intersections.
Many towns and counties use both MgCh and gravel/sand which has rock salt mixed in keeping it from freezing rock hard.

 

I guess I did the guy who bought my trade in 2018 a favor. I sprayed 3M cavity wax in the doors, inside the tailgate, behind the box sides, front fenders and internal parts of the frame. I used nearly a case of the shit.

I saw it the other day driving around yesterday, I could help but think of how much he over paid for it

 

I use rubberized coatings on the plastic inner fenders to reduce road noise.

 

This right here^^ Even a new truck I would feel more comfortable protecting it myself. I used cavity wax in both rockers. I still need to do my doors.
