Forgive the amateur question, although can anyone give me guidance on how to deal with this? I noticed some yellow rust on my front bumper, and it looks to be coming from a small hole in the weld. What is the best way to clean this up and prevent it from happening going forward?

Sand paper it off maybe, then spray paint for sure.

Probably just coming from the inside which would be normal. Clean it up and fill the hole with JB Weld.

Is that the drain hole for the front tube? Is it a perfect drilled hole or an imperfection? Generally each cavity needs a hole in it to allow expansions and contraction. If it is a drilled hole, it may be a challenge to stop that from happening,

Probably just a welding imperfection that was then covered up temporarily with powdercoating

I say wire brush, JB weld, and then spray paint

Is that a lil B bumper? Not that this is a reflection of their quality... just curious.

Welds are always tough to keep from rusting. Small imperfections and sharp corners result in poor powdercoating coverage, which leads to rust.

That’s just rust water that has run out and stained the paint. No need to sand or wire brush it or you’ll ruin the paint finish. I would try CLR or some other weak rust remover and then seal up the hole.

Hell, you may not even need anything that strong with how light that rust looks. I've removed heavier stuff with just my finger before.

My tundra use to get similar nicks from rocks in the chrome bumper then later you'd see rust bleeding from the nick. I ended up grinding out the nick, and filling it in with a dap of chrome paint letting it dry and putting another dab of clear over that.

I’ll give this thread credit. No one has said “lawyer up” yet. Maybe the tides are changing.

True. The Sport guys always lose in court. If it was a Pro they settle, ‘cause they know you are serious about trucks.
