Took it in today. The Dealer was very courteous and supportive. They said I need a new frame and it would be ordered. When it arrives, nobody knows. It is not like they are in stock, but made, or so he tells me. He said no Dealer stocks them. He said they do 1 frame replacement a week. I was allowed to take the truck, or a loaner Corolla, I chose my truck. Now they wait. I'll update when something happens happens.

He said if I feel uncomfortable I can take the loaner anytime. They felt the frame wasn't going to snap anytime soon. Me too.

Don't want to start a new thread on this I had my frame factory coated. This means I have 15 years from date of sale right? It's still ok now but just want to know.

You should have been adamant about getting a loaner truck or something better if you need a truck. I told them I bought a truck because I need a truck and they gave me a 2016 f150, 2 2015 tacoma's and a brand spanking new 4runner with 66 miles on it.

I posted the other day when I got my truck back, but don't see the post???

Anyway the truck is back with a new frame, total elapsed time since bringing it to the Dealer was about 2 months. Looks good. Couple of oddities, they didn't fill Power steering reservoir so the pump started squealing. The glove box is sort of knocked off its pivot. And the emergency brake comes out way too far, about 14 inches, which was the only thing I complained about and the mechanic said, thru the service rep" he didn't want the brakes to lock up. Something is wrong, maybe they used a cable for a double cab or something, took some video of it if anyone cares to look. Happy it is done.

ugmold, not sure if you are active but I have the just experienced the same issue on my 2003 x-cab 4x4 (40K miles). Took it to the dealer/filed a complaint with corporate and both said there is nothing they can do. Do you have paperwork or a recall number that they gave regarding the recall of the frame. Can't find anything on frame recall for the '03 era Tacoma Frames.
    Would greatly appreciate your feedback.

You are out of luck. The frame replacement program lasted 15 years past the manufacture date of the vehicle. late model 2004 tacomas are the only ones eligible still. Are you familiar with Safe-T-Caps? Do you know how to weld? Check out autorust technicians website to see if there is an authorized fabricator near you. They can weld a cap on and I have heard nothing but good things from them. Strong sturdy frame caps.

It's already been explained tons on here but I don't mind rehashing it. The extended service campaign regarding the frames was not a recall. Toyota offered up this campaign to replace rusty frames as long as they were inspected and coated by a Toyota dealer and as long as it is within 15 years of original sale (original put into use) date. Yours being past the 15 years now there is likely nothing you can do to have Toyota replace it through their service campaign. Google will have the identifying docs and service numbers you're looking for. Worth going for it, just keep your expectations low

Yeah. Have to rephrase it though. Just made his account, likely in a panic and needed an answer fast. Been there.... lol

Thanks to all. familiar with the post 15 yr. SOL condition. Been arguing with Toyota for sometime (within the timeframe) now about my rust issue. Their position was...no holes no problem....next!?!
    Yes...in a panic.
Appreciate the link for the caps.
