Yeah, the Luci lights are pretty legit. We have the string lights that stow in the cylinder-shaped unit with the solar on top. We also have a couple of their inflatable lanterns like linked above.

    Would recommend.

Anyone have a recommendation for paint/body shop in Sac area? My 2nd gen Black Sand Pearl's hood and roof paint are failing and I want to get it fixed before rust starts. If you've had similar issues, how much did it cost? Getting ready to get estimates and wondered what the ballpark is going to be.

only interaction I have had as of late was with Caliber Collison at fair oaks and MANZ.. they ended up not doing any work because I ended up with a aftermarket bumper. they were nice and it was a really clean place.. they were recommended by my Insurance company USAA

Thanks, I'll get a quote from them. Interestingly, there are 3 different Caliber Collision shops listed on Fulton, within 1-2 blocks of each other.

I had work done on my Camaro at Thompson's Collision on Auburn Blvd years ago and they did a good job, so I'll get one from them as well.

If anyone needs paint or body work. Let me know, just not interested in complete repaints. I work at a very old and well known shop with an excellent reputation. It's not a chain, we only have one downtown location.

PM me for info. Rather not post it here, I don't want it coming up in searches.

Also don't take your vehicles to caliber, Thompsons is good. They have an excellent painter as well.

Thanks, my truck should be done by Monday. Thompsons did some work on my 1967 Camaro years ago and I was happy with it. I'm not happy that the quote went from $1800+/- to $2600 once they started working on it. $210 of that was drip moulding they had to replace and the remainder for more metal work discovered after they started. Completely understandable, just was not ready for that big of a jump. I'll pm you for the name in case of future needs.

Hidden damage is going go happen, but a good estimator will be able to accurately calculate it.

A big issue is the insurance companies original estimate, they intentionally write the original estimate low. Because alot of people simply cash out.

So an $800 bumper job can turn into $8-10k in repairs after a shop takes it apart and accurately catalogs of the damage.

I say to avoid large chain shops, because they usually hire anybody and everybody. By the time an employees lack of skill is identified, they could have ruined 20 cars. Same goes for management, they will grab anyone and toss them in the management position. It's not an ideal situation, I've been though it. And I won't work for a big company like that again.

GOOD smaller shops can't take that risk, and are able to watch every step of the process until the new employee is trusted.

Any cheap painters here? I used to have a guy that preped and painted stuff at $150 a panel. But he moved. ;(

I’m looking to get my camper shell repainted. Not looking for perfect work

What is your location? And are you willing to take the shell apart for paint? 150 for a shell is a little low. If you are in Sacramento message me.

I will take it apart for sure. I’m willing to help out as much as I can.

what I meant to say is that my previous paint guy would change me $150 panel. So I brought him a car that needed the side and front painted. Fender, bumper, hood, and door. He would charge me $600 for that and that was really good for me.

I am willing to pay more for camper shell since it is bigger.

That's very reasonable pricing for a panel that doesn't need alot of rework such as scratches or peeling paint.

Handling the part multiple times and masking multiple times, letting primer dry, blocking primer. It adds more time, but a new fender at 150 a pop is a good price, prep once and paint it!

Nice setup, come snow wheeling this winter. We have a big group. If there's enough snow in forest hill we bring out the big guns to break trail. The guys with full size trucks have the driver mod and they do really well.
