Crutchfield said my AudioFrogs wouldn't fit either (Front or rear) and they ended up fitting just fine. I did have to create two of the four holes on the trim ring (for the 6 x 9's ), but that was cake.

Here's a shot of the 6 1/2's. So don't always trust Crutchfield's configurator to be %100 all the time.

Yeah, the problem with their configurator is that they don't say why something doesn't fit. Some issues would be critical, while others would not.

I think Crutchfield is saying the speakers won't fit without an adapter, but most 6x9's won't fit in the front doors without an adapter, so not sure why they state that. Like the other dude said, Crutchfield isn't always right. I used the Metra 6x9 adapters here and the tempos fit great - https://www.amazon.com/Metra-82-8146-Speaker-Adapter-Vehicles/dp/B00IIC6CPE

The tempos sound amazing but I wish I'd gone with the 3 way maximos and mounted the tweeter on the sail panels. Hindsight 20/20 I guess haha

Ask this question in the Audio/Video forum. There’s ALWAYS someone, myself included, willing to help you spend your money! :spending:

[edit]. Looked around the A/V forum, came across this thread. By no means the definitive guide, but it’s a place to start. GL

I’ve FINALLY decided on the Tempos, took me 6 months, and my one holdup was Crutchfield saying they don’t fit. Yours fit, with no window interference? I have adapters from the audio company not to be named, so they’re around 1 1/8”, and my measurements say the Tempos are the exact same depth. Yours fitting would ease my mind some.

10-4. It's a tight fit, but I can confirm the Tempo's fit in my front doors without window interference. However, that is based on my using the Metra 6x9 adapter brackets here - https://www.amazon.com/Metra-82-8146-Speaker-Adapter-Vehicles/dp/B00IIC6CPE

Make sure you drive those Tempos with some power. They're thirsty bitches haha. My MPS 4.400 powers them well, but I can tell they can handle more.

If you pick them up, consider mounting the tweeter on the sail panel. It seems like it should work well with the mounting hardware the Tempo tweeters come with.

NICE!! The Metra adapters are the same depth as mine, and no clearance issues is sweet! As for power, I’ve got 200wpc on tap for them, figure that’s a good place to start. o_O:benchpress:

All the speakers require adapters to fit in the front doors so there must be some other issue, like depth?? Or maybe this is only a problem with the Scosche brand adapters that they sell. Who knows? But good to see you guys have had success with these. If I go crazy one of these days I might get a pair for the front and put the Focals in the rear wing doors. And an amp.

I can tell you from experience the Metra adapters worked great for my 3rd gen.

I put Hertz Mille pro in front and rear doors. The rear were tight, I had to position the terminals because the window did hit them in 1 position. You can also check mounting depths before installing. I would get an amp that really matches what the speakers can handle when able. The speakers sound amazing when properly crossed over and fed the right amps.

Another thing to do if depth is an issue with the window is to make a spacer ring with a 3D printer or with a jigsaw and 1/4" or 1/2" plywood. Mount this under the adapter.

Toyota should be ashamed of these speakers.

I had a good chuckle out of the header calling those OEM Woofers. :D

They are barely speakers, much less woofers.
