in the last ford thread i posted there was like 3 guys that had their ranger transmissions replaced. that is about the same amount that have been proven to have failed on new 4th gen taco... why isnt the ford ranger sky falling???

The ford 2.3 is actually pretty stout. I've seen far more cases of problems with the 3.4 in the Tundra, LX and GX so we don't have a lot of room to talk. Also Toyota is basically following the Ford strategy by sticking a 2.4 in everything under the sun. Both the Ranger and the new Tacoma have a fair share of transmission issues reported.

Toyota's been such a bummer lately. I went through a three-month nightmare with my 3rd gen after I bought it, and dealing with Toyota was a nightmare. Was about ready to give up entirely and just get something else. But I got my issues mostly worked out before I really lost my shit.

No excuses for Toyota quality lately. That's what built the brand, after all. If they don't have that quality edge, they're going to lose a lot of business.

I drove the Ranger Raptor for a couple of weeks (doing a test for a review). It was...decent. I wasn't bowled over by that truck, either. But it's clearly a good option if it ticks all your boxes.

missing the point. the OP said he couldnt trust his taco after they replaced the transmission because they couldnt tell him the issue was fixed... whats to say the ford issue is fixed? from that thread you shouldnt be able to trust the ranger either..
