Like the title states. I am always afraid of jumping another vehicle off. I am concerned about some type of feed back that could short out my electrical system or fry something else. Am I wrong?

Red+ to red+ then black- to black-, I always let it sit for a few minutes and give it a little throttle to help it charge.

Positive (red) cable on first and off last. Hook to the battery terminals of the dead vehicle.

Hook to the positive terminal or jump point on the good vehicle and any decent ground point, like the engine block or other location.

Wait a bit, and try starting.

The even better method is to get a jump pack and make everything easier:

Once hooked up rev the truck to 1200-1500 rpms for a bit before trying to start the other vehicle.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will get a portable jump started and keep peace of mind. One hundred dollars vs. possibly thousands, no brainer.

Get a portable battery jump starter and then you never need to worry about it again.

Edit: d’oh I’m late to the party. lol. Good call, op!

Never ever ever jump another vehicle with your truck. Just buy a jump starter and let the other person use it.

I've jumped cars dozens of times with no problems. But the electronics in newer vehicles is a concern. The little units that will fit in a glovebox work much better than I ever expected. Going forward that is what I plan to use. I have one in every vehicle including the ATV in case I need to jump start myself.

I’ve used jumper cables so many times I’ve lost count. The last time was as recent as last Christmas. I’ve never had any issue or heard of anyone have an issue. I’m not sure what you are afraid of. What is this feed back you speak of?
