I have to go out there for work related property inspection on Friday June 8. Any recommendations for things to see, places to eat, or anything along the way? Driving in from Scottsdale. Might also consider camping overnight somewhere since it’s a 3 hour drive to get there. Thanks for any suggestions.

If its open you can take the Black Hills Back Country Byway (east of Safford) out to the old Safford Bridge. There are a few nice campsites out there right by the Gila. Keep going east on the Byway and you'll end up in Clifton. Pretty rad old mining town, great for pictures.

Just went over this route in with google maps. Looks like an awesome drive. Can swing by the rockhounding area if it’s not to hot. Thanks for the suggestion.

Had a beautiful drive out to eastern Arizona. Was great to see these mining towns, and has some interesting stops along the way. We changed the plan from the backcountry byway and instead headed up to Blackjack Group Campground to get out of the heat. Checked out the Blackhills Rockhound area and got a few pieces of fire agate too. Fun overall. Some pics from the drive.
