    Quick question for y’all.
I have HD Dakars but I have recently added a cap, drawer system, bedslide and a shitload of tools.
I am not sitting level anymore. Can I add another leaf or do I bag it?

You can add the Dakar add a leaf. That’s what I did.

I have a lot of weight in the ass of my truck too.

So, I have 6 leafs and two over loads now.

    That’s a bad angle...

    This is a little better.

That’s with a full aux fuel tank in the bed, tools, spare parts, 35” spare, extra one piece driveshaft, recovery gear, High-lift, steel bed rack, etc, and my trailer on.

I would’ve mentioned Joe’s leaf springs, but I figured you’d rather just add to what you already have.

I know @Blackout14 ‘s HD springs are stout though

Just know that both options increase your spring rate - spring rate is directly related to dampening so you may notice more of a bounce when the truck hits a bump.

If you plan on carrying that much load for an extended period of time, Id recommend the additional leafs or a custom leaf pack (Dakar's are pretty shit for extended load carrying - i've had three different configurations in the past two years and 75k mi and finally just decided not to carry so much crap).

I've also ran bags and was really happy with them, but your truck will bounce like a bouncy ball down the road, especially if the bags are over 10 psi.

To combat the bounce you go with a higher performing custom valved shock like king, fox, etc or the new bp-51 system that has adjustable compression and rebound.

FWIW I love my Dakars on and off road.

I should note that I also have a shackle flip. That adds a little lift as well.

My Dakars have been put to the test. So far, no complaints.

I want my lift back but these are flat. A shackle flip won’t change that. Will it?

I can testify to this. I have the Dakar HD packs and since my truck is usually unloaded I get beat to hell driving in the baltimore area. Might end up taking the AAL leaf out.

i just put the el096r pack in mine. I have a cap, prinsu rack and 55" awning and it has road very well so far with the 200 lbs i have on the bed, not soft or bouncy. My drawers will go back in next week, i guess well see how it goes then. how many miles are on your old pack?

I won’t get into the “does a shackle flip flatten my leafs” debate...

I can tell you that a shackle flip certainly will not ADD arch to your springs.

It adds lift simply from flipping the shackle.

My Dakars are flat too. They don’t have a big arch to begin with.
