I think there should be buttons on the steering wheel at the push of your thumb for the one handed 12 oclock drivers :) Don't give me the safety bullshit either. I know the 10 and 2 crap

Yeah, my Tacoma would sit near 3,000 rpm at 80mph on the interstate and take a good amount of winding out to merge. Could have gone for a 6th gear but it would have only been useful on the extreme flats. Even at 3,000 rpm I'd have to downshift to 4th to go up some of the (very mild) hills on Colorado interstates without dwindling down to 60mph.

I like the way my ram looks minus the chrome, but I may do something about it in the future. Still pretty slick though. The interior? Well, I just drove my 4runner to work a few minutes ago and was missing the ram for all of the 20 minutes I was in the car. Comfort is out of this world.

Toyota should borrow from their high end or Lexus interiors for all their new trucks moving forward IMO (at least on the higher trims). Some will forever argue that a truck is a truck, it should be rugged, basic, functional. Well okay, but that's not going to sell trucks to the heaping majority of people that want a truck without truly needing it (the people who drive them like cars). You obviously spend a great deal of time inside the vehicle, it may as well be comfortable and modern.

no i don't have remorse for buying a reg cab. i'm glad i did. i had a tacoma before they were called tacomas. my first one was a 1988 reg cab i got back in 1994. i have plenty of experience with toyota trucks.

i never said they weren't nice for the v6 models i just said they cost too much for what they are. they aren't worth $35k. plain and simple. $28k? maybe that would open alot more doors for people. not everyone can afford to go out and buy $30k + vehicles. in fact where i live most people can't afford to do that. so toyota is pushing them all to look elsewhere to buy. it's plain economics.

people that do alot of towing can't use the 4cyl model so much unless they just do light towing. so they are looking for a v6 or v8. if a v8 is cheaper they are going to buy a v8 for more power at a cheaper cost.

I have a loaded TRD sport. Every option. Nav, JBL, 4x4, tow, V6, etc... $32,500. I don't think price is an issue, personally.

My last Tacoma, the one before this one I paid 13K (cash) for drove it for 12 years and sold it for 11K. It sat in my driveway for 4 days with a sign in the window new owner paid cash and was very happy. The one I'm driving now I plan on driving 12+ years, then I'll buy another. My wife drives a Lexus SUV does the same thing ........ F them jumbo car payments.

I'm saying BS on an EcoBoost getting 23, unless you have a 2wd with 3.15 or 3.31 gears.

My 2013, FX4 below here, never got better than 17 on the hwy, and mostly 11-12 in town. But I had the Max Tow pkg, and 3.73's + long box. Was an absolute beast towing and when not towing, but gas mileage wasn't an attribute for this truck.

    you don't think that's a high price for a truck with a v6? i do

it's not high if you make alot of money but if you just have a normal job making $25-$50k a year then that is alot of money to spend on a truck.

people that make more than that usually go ahead and buy diesel trucks. at least around here that is what happens. if they can afford that much they go ahead and spend 40-50k on a diesel.

look i think you guys are missing the point. i'm not saying price is an issue for everyone i'm just saying for the majority of people it is a big issue when it comes to deciding what truck to buy.

when i bought my truck is was $20k. it was the only 4cyl 4x4 on the lot. every other v6 was over $30k. that is a huge price jump just to get power windows/door locks, v6 engine, tow package, and a few extras like alloy wheels don't you think???

my payment was $350 a month. you get the v6 it goes up to $500 a month. big difference to me just to get a few extras on a truck. totally not worth it.

heck you can buy a decent house where i live for $500 a month.

im in agreeance with WEEZER. when I bought my truck I paid 30.5k at the time i really didnt think I was getting every penny of that to be honest. dont get me wrong I do love my truck but at the time I could have got a ram with a hemi for same price. I bought this truck thinking it would be the last truck Ill buy new and thats still probably the case but 30k is a good bit of money. if it was 25k after all said and done i would have not thought twice but that extra 5k made me hesitate. but dispite the journey im glad i bought a dependable truck to drive for years and years. the toyota tacoma will be fine. its not like a redesign of a competitors vehicle ever killed an already good product. it takes years to build a good rep and toyota has that.

i guess you didn't have a 1st gen toyota truck?

i had a 4cyl and my friend had a v6 with extended cab. the v6 didn't feel any more powerful than the 4 cyl back then. very little difference.

4cyl was the norm back in those days. there were more of them on the road than v6 toyota trucks and if you look around alot of those 4 bangers are still going strong today more so than the v6 models.

4cly is fine for most people that don't ever do any heavy hauling. 22mpg is alot better than 18mpg. plus you get a better turning radius which is much better offroading if you have a reg cab version.

to each their own though. i think toyota is the only company that even makes a 4cyl 4x4 truck that i know of. so perhaps they will stop making them when they go to gen 3 trucks? who knows?

oh well i just found another thread. seems the reg cab is gone already. that means my truck is more rare and thus more valuable now.
