They are claiming that the salt is coming in from the passenger side amp wire, traveling up over the transmission tunnel and into the driver's side floor.

To me, it seems like the under-body sealant is non-existent or has fallen off OR they missed the seams....

Have you crawled under and looked at the sealant in the places that are leaking..??

Next time you are at the dealer.....crawl under a new one and compare..

You would think so, but they are saying the its coming from the aftermarket wires with zero evidence to support that... even basic laws of gravity disprove them, water wont travel uphill, then back down without leaving any trace.

There is no salt on any of the wires they claim are bringing the salt in, just on the floor pan.

When I pull the inside, im going to put a sprinkler under it and let it run for awhile.

Ive looked under the truck, most of the seems are half sealed. Im not sure if sealant is supposed to be covering the whole seam or not, but every seam has the back half sealed, the front half is not.

Most likely being stationary and just putting a sprinkler on it may not work. My guess is it's coming in while driving.... wind/aerodynamics is forcing/pushing the water/salt in through. Good luck with the findings.

Here are some pictures of the underside on the drivers side. You can see many of the seams are only half sealed.

So out of curiosity, I went to check out the other tacoma in my works parking ramp. Climbed under it as non-suspiciously as I could.... his whole underside is sealed.... seems he went aftermarket and rattle canned the whole underside.

But im curious if some of you guys could show some pictures of your seam sealer jobs from the factory.
