Ok, while loosely still on topic, I have to post this, 30 secs of bizarre-ness lol

During Winter when you get in your Taco, you don't notice bottom of your shoes and pants are wet or have snow which has salt. Carpet gets wet, goes through when drys turns into salt from the road. This is typical in eastern part of Canada.I might be wrong or you can pressure wash underneath and see if water goes through the floor. Good Luck

I have rubber mats, plus I kick the snow off my shoes, plus there is no salt residue on the carpets. It is only on the metal under the carpet. There is nothing on the padding under the carpets either.

Either this salt doesn't stick to carpet and only drains to the floor, or it's coming from under the floor pan.

Thanks for checking. Just speculating right now, but the fact that it's all just near the floor vents, I'm thinking it's coming in from the HVAC somewhere.

Be careful undercoating. They can stop up the various drain holes in the frame which will make your rust issue 10X worse

I have fluid film on the way too, I will be stopping the undercoating just before any drain holes, but fogging the drains with fluid film.

Thanks! glad to see mine is the same as others.

I had plans to to get this all fixed this weekend, but they are saying 13 inches of snow starting tonight :( guess Ill wait another week... but that should give me time to get all the supplies I need ready to get the inside and outside of the truck sealed in one weekend.

Wholly shit Erik...… That's one terrible caulking job.

I don't know what they used but mine is a direct colour match to sand coloured Tacos. And it looks a silicone and is somewhat soft yet.

We still have 3' of snow here, but I'll crawl under and take some pics, if I can. Some of these seams we missed entirely.:eek:

That's gonna be a rusted out floor in no time if not fixed.....

Yeah, its a shit show under there. What pisses me off more than the bad sealing job is that they are still clinging to the idea that salt water came down the amp power cable, snuck 3 feet to the drivers side without leaving a trace, then dumping on the floor of the drivers side.... completely defying gravity and going uphill.

Water can seep up, at least in dirt or other material such as cotton

Yes it can, but it would of left salt on the wire, these wires are as clean as the day they were installed.

Yes, I would think there would be a trail of some sort, but I also don’t think that water would travel up a wire. With fish tanks you are encouraged to let the wires hang down below the plug, so any water will drip down and not into the outlet.

Yep, I have drip loops on all 4 of my tanks. Many times I find water creep on those wires is from bubbles popping and splashing up over the rim. But I always have a mineral crust right at the base of the wire.

You guys had me very concerned. On Monday of this week I sprayed the underside of my truck to wash the salt off after this last winter. I made a medium pressure water sprayer out of PVC pipe (sort of a sprinkler pattern) and blast the underside from stem to stern. I just went out and lifted up both of the floor mats (access cab), and they were both dry as a bone underneath. Whew.

NOOOOOOOOO! Don’t fluid film up into the underbody panels! If you live somewhere hot your truck is going to smell like ass! I keep fluid film to frame only now lol
