I used to think that too - until I got an auto dimming mirror.

2015 DC TRD Sport 4X4 with Entune and Nav. Normal mirror with no bells or whistles... I might be interested in this update. Any idea what these mirrors are selling for price wise?

Bob sells them (RJP869 on here). I just paid $269 for autodimming with homelink and compass (didn't want temp) with white LED backlit everything and a white LED downfacing LED. He ships them with all the needed wiring and harnesses for your specific truck as well. You can get one that also has temp for a little more.

    I highly recommend him.

Edit: Here's a link to his post about what he sells: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...ew-mirrors-2009-15-tacomas-other-toyotas.html

I have a 2015 DC 4x4 also. I haven't confirmed if it has the connector as a few above users have said, but if it does, do we just buy the mirror from him and plug it up?

Well I just got my 2015 and ask about converting it to auto dim, home link, Temp, and compass. The dealer said they could do it and have done it before. The cost was $760 installed! But after some dickering I got them down to $400. It's a factory Toyota mirror.

Yup, he ships them wired up for plug-n-play. He sends the correct harnesses and plugs and everything.

Not sure about the 2015, but for the 2014 all you do is pretty much dismount old mirror, pop out the overhead console, take off the cover on the plug, plug the mirror into it, mount new mirror, and bam.

Everything I've seen shows it to be insanely simple. Unless you're running a temp probe, that's a bit more involved, but still decently easy. Just the mirror with compass, maybe ~30 minutes to do from what I've read.

We'll see in a couple days since I have *terrible* luck with anything that's supposed to be simple. I'll be the one truck that's missing the prewiring or something.

I still for the life of me cannot figure out what makes someone get the auto dim/homelink mirror and some don't... is it vehicles with Nav maybe?... my Baja has it.

Just bought a 2015 DCSB w/TRD and Navi. No auto dim mirror.

Frustrating as I didn't even think to ask as my 2012 had it.

Now looks like I'll have to go aftermarket and run a temp wire just to be where I was three years ago.

On my 2012 it was pretty accurate. I do a lot of winter pass driving and the temp gauge is really helpful. It was always within 1-2 degrees of my own measurements outside.

That weather app sucks. It reports towns no where near where I am. I miss the external temp guage from my '06 :(

The 2014 didn't come standard with the homelink, If you got that in your 2014 you paid for it, you might not know it, but you did.

Got my mirror from Bob in today. Woulda got it yesterday but I forgot to tell my gf it was coming in and she missed the mailman, lol.

It was *super* easy to do. If I can do it in ~20 minutes (almost 10 of it was getting the little plastic piece that hides the wire and makes it look stock in place... I was doing it wrong at the start but then had an "ah ha!" moment and saw how it snapped into place, lol), then anyone can do it.

It's literally unscrew and pop off old mirror, unscrew and pop out top console, remove cover on prewired plug in console, pop new mirror on (I screwed it in as the last step just in case I needed to move it), poke plug and cable thru headliner, plug in, pop in little plastic cover over wire showing, pop and screw console back in... done! Super easy.

Thank you Bob for the fantastic service and insane fast shipping. I am now happy with my mirror again!

I didn't take any pics as there are plenty from other users, but I will post some when it gets dark of the display and the bottom white LED, since I haven't seen anyone post that yet. Most people here go with the one with the temp as well. In Texas, it's pretty much just hot, or cold for maybe 2 months. :p Entune isn't exactly accurate but it's close enough for down here.

My new 2015 has plain jane mirror. I have confirmed it is prewired. Plan to order new mirror from Bob. Don't really understand why they downgraded this mirror. I traded in my 2013 and didn't even think to look at the mirror when I picked out a newer truck.

Hey everyone. First time poster here, very impressed with the knowledge on this site. Just upgraded my 2012 Tacoma to a 2015 TRD Sport. Noticed after I drove it home that it did not have the home link mirror.

Talking to the dealership, they wanted close to $700 to install this feature which is more than i'm willing to spend.

I just want to confirm because from reading this forum, it sounds like there is already an adapter in the visor above the current mirror where all i would have to do is plug the mirror in and done. No running wires to the fuse box or anything like that. Is this correct?

    Thanks,
    Jason

Add another one to the club...traded in my 2013 yesterday for the 2015. Took a walk through and didn't even check it until I was rolling at night. Figured the temp was in the radio, and like others that app sucks. Snow/Freezing rain line came earlier tonight. Always good to see if that temp is 27 or 36 in those conditions.

Like others always good to have the temp back up there, direction and heck I lived the cam up there too.

2015 TRD Pro comes with the auto dim / homelink / compass mirror. No temp due to the "Entune" just like the no clock option.

My '15 TRD sport came with a boring mirror. Upgraded it to this:
