    So my new shackles are ready to install, hopefully the rear shock towers will be done, Doug you and I should spend some time talking about an upgrade in leaf springs.

    Ya know, I've had to re think the 2nd gen shackle thing in the OEM config a few times, theres 2 lines of logic, the first one is a longer shackle in stock config will lower your truck & of course the 2nd one is it will lift your truck. Actually both have validity, push the shackle height up will draw the spring/axle closer to the bed/frame thus lowering your truck, and on the 2nd. line of logic fuck it makes no sense..haha

    I expect with the flip I will lose about 3/4" of up travel because that is what is gained in height. At least to keep springs healthy. I am willing to trade that off for additional clearance in the back gained by losing to factory hangers. Losing a tiny bit up up travel might help the fenders anyway.

    going a different route other then a shackle flip kit, a longer shackle and the mount bung will be elevated and welded near the top of the frame a few other details that will be apparent once I get some images.

    Why cut your old bolts?? Just bend the sheetmetal in the front out a bit and they slide right out.

    Have fun with that, hope you have an impact to tighten those upper spindle bolts..kind of difficult to do alone if your using hand tools.
