How's that compressor working out for you? I just picked one up this weekend as an impulse buy when I was at Harbor Freight.

...wait aren't all purchases from Harbor Freight impulse buys?

I have the Harbor Freight tire pump (since 2006), and still works... only the cables get very hot and the fuse holder melts... A few months ago I was given a Tsunami tire pump (MV-50?) and does much better at not over-heating... Just a tad slower to add air (5 psi per minute vs. 6 with the General Pneumatic pump from Harbor Freight).

    I have a couple thoughts

    1. I would never do anything involving sand without dropping the pressure from say 35 to at the very least 25 and usually around 18-20 unless im still getting stuck then 12-15. especially since it sounds like one of your buddies had a compressor.

    2. didnt you say you were running 33's and your buddies basically 31's? it takes a lot more power to spin those bigger tires. which means you need to be higher in the rpm's to get the same result as your buddies which in the sand isnt as good because that high torque will cause you dig a lil harder than being lower in the rpm range.

    3. If you have the power inverter in the bed why wouldn't you just get a cheap lil regular 110v outlet air compressor. I have a 12v clip on air compressor that i bought before i bought my taco and it doesnt put out half as much air as a cheap 110v compressor would. plus if your cables arent long enough to reach the battery you could always just grab an extension cord instead of having to have an extra battery or trying to use jumper cables or something as an extension.

The 110v outlet may not run an air pump for tires, but it does one for air mattresses.
