Alright tire carrier progress this morning

Cleaned up most of the welds so it looks like it hasn't been welded

This is part of the latch system using a T-Handle bolt setup
I'm going to copy what I did today on the other swingout except instead of a sleeve where the bolt goes through its going to have a threaded nut.

Thanks I'm getting there with some of my welds... I'm just glad I can do it myself now versus paying someone else to do it

Alright so I basically have the latch setup done, however I am concerned its not going to work the way I want it too

I'm afraid its going to rattle but I'm not sure

Yep you got it I'm hoping by doing that, that the swingouts will lock themselves together and not move... I guess we will see

Ah! nice! yes its the middle. Sweet!

Okay, to save you the pain of the rattle..

All you need is some rubber matt. Like just a strip or too from a mud flap off a big rig sorta. Shame you already basically welded it up and stuff cause if you made everything just a touch smaller and used 2 1'' strips of 1/4'' rubber on either side of the hole..youd be golden.

Something like that though and you'll be rattle free man. Be easy to come up with something like that. hell...even just like a rubber washer around the latch?

as long as the latch is latching also too the bumper..it won't move. But i can almost promise if your betting on only that latch to hold the swingouts..its gonna move a lot with tires on them and stuff.. id plan to have the latch tied into the bumper some out to press the swing arms into the bumper..

Yeah I can get a rubber washer or something good thinking!

I was hoping just that would hold it but I definitely don't believe it will anymore.
Ill either have to pick up a latch or make a pin to attach one swing to the bumper

yea cause i guess if thats centered on the bumper..and they will be above the bumper..you can't add an attachment point for the latch cause there is this cool thing called a tail gate in the way...damn..haha

yea.. im pretty dang certain it would hold it..but it'll just move a LOT haha

Unless you did two of those latches..and had them over lapping like that by like..12-18''..then i bet it would work..

Yeah I was having a hard time figuring out how to latch it and that was the best I could come up with

I did leave enough tube to offset the latch to the left of the license plate so I can add a latch from the front of the swing down to the front of the bumper

the front to the front? so you'd add a second latch that would attach them to the bumper? hmm...

yep thats the backup plan I guess, Its gonna suck to have two latches but I dont see any other way to do it with the Elite bumper and a dual swing out
