Hey it was a pleasure meeting and wheeling with you yesterday, looking forward to the pics you took, you were always right in the action, prolly got some great shots!

Spent weekend at Rausch Creek Offroad Park. First time I've been back there in a few years. Managed to meet back up with the Otters and also met some of the Poon Jabbers . Met a lot of great people and wheeled some fun trails.

Also, where can I find more info of your pelican power box? I've had this exact idea in my head! Would love to know how you went about it.

 

Okay so it has a two 12volt outlets, a dual usb outlet, a 4pin twist locking marine plug for my rtt lights, and then it has a two pin 12v plug to feed it power. I have a 8 foot extension cord for the two pin outlet then the same two pin outlet on the truck. The black box inside is a driver for the LEDs on the tent, it dims and changes colors via the remote.

I can find some part numbers of the oddball stuff if you'd like

So there's not a battery within the box? To be clear. I was Thinkn bout doing a very similar setup but have like a motor cycle battery in there. Kinda like an electric generator. Now I don't know how batteries work but I would think you can charge it with jumpers before or at camp trip. Let me know what you think. Can a battery be useless after so many times recharging it? It's new to me so better to learn before I buy. Thanx.

 

My overall goal is a potable electric power box that can be brought into a tent to power a few nessecities giving the needs. Everything from heated blankets, cooling fan, and even cell phone.

 

That's correct. No battery in it. I was using it for high amp things in the tent like a fan or a heat blanket.

In theory I wouldn't see why you couldn't use a small battery as long as it's a 12volt and not a small 6 volt. However I'm not sure on the charging of it.

The old truck and I went on a vacation this past week with my family and extended family. We were headed to the OBX, but I decided to take my cousins' to Uwharrie on the way. I ended up putting about 1100 miles on the truck.

We only ran the mild trails due to it being my cousins' first time offroading in the rocks. My cousins' only had a lifted 4 door wrangler and a lifted nissan frontier, so we didn't want to overdue it.

Overall I was pretty impressed with the frontier, doesn't have the ground clearance but it did pretty good. As for the jeep, well its a jeep so it handled fine in the rocks.

 

Looks like fun

 

Uwharrie IS fun. Just not a 10 hour one-way drive fun.
