Rinella lit a fire under me. I wanted to try it after watching one of his televised hunts.

we blasted them. I wish I had my bow here, so I could try to arrow one. Super fun bird hunt. One more day of it tomorrow. Haha.

Can’t wait to taste one. Our first crane hunt ever, and we limited out.

We head to NM right afterwards for mule deer. I am racking up some big tacoma miles.

It is delicious! Best meat I’ve ever eaten. Better than any beef.

I was shocked the first time I had crane meat. Its a red meat.
Apparently goose is the same way.

Before everyone gears up and goes hunting for lunch, be sure you know what you are hunting and where.

There are several sub species of Sandhill Crane and a couple, like the Florida Sandhill Crane, are protected at the Federal level.

I’m sure most people abide by the law when hunting and don’t just walk out and shoot what they want lol

It’s pretty easy to shoot at the correct crane. Most areas that have protected crane mixed in, won’t allow any crane hunting anyways.

Living in Florida the only Sand Hill cranes i know are the big slow moving brown ones. I know they are protected probably because they must be ancestors to the Doh Doh Bird. They fear nothing and walk directly into traffic i'm surprised i never see any dead ones on the side of the road. I never thought about eating one. You could easily killem with a sling shot if you wanted they just stand there.

Been wanting to try hunting them ever since I saw that same Meat Eater episode. That pic is making me hungry!
