Nice truck. I couldn't get through all the pages. Do you have a limited slip or a locker installed? Trying to figure out which road I want to go with my PreRunner

Thanks! I know, I've slapped a lot of info in there and there's definitely more to come. I'll probably consolidate it at some point to make it easier to view.

All 09+ models have AUTO LSD as I understand it. I haven't found myself in a situation where I had to turn it off. I do not have a locker but it is on the wish list along with a 4wd conversion. :D

If you're in the San Diego county area wanting to do something local, there are several trails or access roads you can hit in 2wd and still have a blast. I grew up here and I still find new spots to explore. Trailsoffroad.com is what I use and helps you figure out if a desired trail is something you want to get into. You'll be surprised what your 2wd can handle.

2wd rule of thumb "never stop moving".

My old man had a hit and run in a parking lot a while back. It's nothing too gnarly but the damge pops out like a sore thumb on the silver paint. They got the fender flare, bed panel and bumper cover. After years of me constantly telling him to get a dash cam... I think he's finally starting to come around lol... I have to add that he is a massive stickler when it comes to keeping his Tacoma pristine as possible. Respect..

Anyways, he's been bugging me to help him figure something out before we spend an outrageous amount of money to fix the damage. So I decided to try these paint matched vinyl stickers from Color Match Wrap for fun. Some of the damage is pretty deep so I grabbed a putty kit from Scratch Wizard to fill crevices so that the vinyl lays evenly. We'll probably go with new black bumper covers or find someone with an extra driver side chrome piece.

I'll update with the finished product after I knock it out tomorrow.

Bought these wheels 12 years ago and still going strong lol. Finally had to repaint them after some road debris decided that I didn't need my center caps anymore.

Finally got around to finishing this little job.

    Original main damage.

    Screenshot_20211129-152416_Gallery.jpg

Filled the crevices as best I could.

    Screenshot_20211129-152429_Gallery.jpg
    Screenshot_20211129-152445_Gallery.jpg

Next I used a utility blade to smooth the surface best as I could.
**I chose not to use sandpaper mostly due to the curve of the flare. The darker spot in the scratch is bare plastic and where the putty is seen really shows how deep the scratch was. If this was a body panel I would have had to used sandpaper and some type of sealer.**

    Screenshot_20211129-152502_Gallery.jpg

I then wiped everything down really well with rubbing alcohol to rid of any oils. This vinyl absolutely needs a perfectly clean surface or it won't stick.

I used some painters tape to mark the exact spot where I was going to lay the vinyl. I didn't want to make any mistakes, like air bubbles, creases or misalignment. I wanted to make sure I only laid
    it once.

    Screenshot_20211129-152551_Gallery.jpg

    And finally application..

    Thoughts:

I'm not a professional, I'm just a guy in a garage lol. It's not perfect but I honestly think this looks ten times better than it did. I recommend this to anyone has OCD when it comes to minor dings, scratches or dents. It's all in the prep.

This little bastard decided it didn't want to give me the key back. One of the worst purchases I've made for the truck...

Hey, no it's super easy. Theres cake walk instructions that comes with the strut.

The only thing I suggest is that you make sure to use a hand wrench on these screws. Do not use power tools, you'll strip the hell out of them.

Here you go! It's up to you if you want to remove the tailgate leash. You'll find that with the tailgate assist and the leash both packed into the same channel, the leash will take a beating. But without the leash you'll loose a wee bit of support when the tailgate is down. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario.

Tore my driver side door apart today in hopes of chasing down a super annoying vibration/rattle. (Imagine a bunch of screws rattling in a aluminum can to beat of your favorite tune.)

To make it even more annoying, the vibration would only make it's self known when I turn up the volume on HU to 20% or higher. To top it off, I have sound dampening and insulation all around making this PITA.

After begrudgingly removing the dampening & insulation to access the channel, I first thought it could be a peice of broken plastic rattling around near the speaker but that wasn't it.

I then checked the door cable. It was rattling a bit but turned out not to be the culprit either.

While trying to recreate the noise, (Bare with me, I'm not familiar with the technical term for window each piece) I pressed a flat head into the window rail and luckily found the f@$king culprit. The bracket that's mounted to a roller which glides on the window rail is starting to get old and loose.

Not wanting to replace the whole damn assembly, I used a strip of 80mil dampening and applied across the rail to help eliminate any play. So far it's working and hopefully it stays that way.

any reason you picked Strong Arm for $27 instead of Stabilus EZ down for $34?
    They both look the same

To be honest, I chose strong arm because it was recommended by another member. Out of curiosity, what does the stabilus offer that the strong arm doesn't? Does it look thinner?
