Is it possible to SAS a 2000 Tacoma with a factory Toyota solid axel? Don’t plan on doing anything crazy with the truck so don’t really want to get all fancy and into it. Or what other options are suggested?

Why do you want to SAS it?

    Welcome to the forum!

If you just want to do something and have the time+money+skill, then do it.

But I have to ask, why would you do it? Unless you're a rock crawler then I say start a build thread!

    Our Tacomas are plenty capable.

I don’t plan on turning into a complete crawler, at least not yet. But I would like to take it off road more, yes tacoma are already plenty capable, but I personally feel it would do a little better. Plus to me, a SAS tacoma just looks a lot cleaner.

Honestly put some 33s on it, a rear locker, sliders and a winch and you can do 95% of the trails in the country. SAS is a can of worms and unless you want to be constantly tinkering with it and changing parts dont do it. I only SAS mine when all the friends I wheeled with went up to 37s and I couldn't physically get my truck into the trails they were going on. I wheeled it on 33s for around 12yrs before that and had a blast and it was rock solid reliable.

Saying that start poking around the solid axle forum and the 1st gen build threads.

    Anything can be done.

I would go with one of the kits rather then finding Toyota Front axles and spending the money and time to rebuild them

I am guessing you can do the fabrication yourself .

If I remember correct it can be a easy $5000.00 if your paying for parts and labor

“Crazy” being throwing tons under it on 40s. Unnecessary for me. But thanks for your feedback.

Assuming your Tacoma is already 4wd...

Find yourself a 6x5.5 D/S drop waggy 44, some ruffpack 1st gen Toyota pickup rear leaf for the front, Chevy 63s in the rear. Geared to 4.88 on 35/37 and your golden.

Why not go selectable front and rear locker, crawl box, and slider? That's more then enough to have fun and cheaper then SAS
