    So I decided to try something a little different since 05prerunner & xr-ace said I should give it a try since I already had the Recessed Grill on my BSP prerunner so with the spare BSP grille I had I set out to make another one.

    In the process of sanding the recessed portion I got a little careless when sanding and sanded through the tape that I had covering the paint. Now I figured since I was going to have to get it painted I might as well try and be a little creative. So I scuffed up the paint and began thinking of ways to fill in the side vents.

    I ended up going over to a local body shop and they gave me some green resin/jelly fiberglass stuff to fill it in.

    After allowing it to harden I applied a very thin layer of bondo on top to fill in the imperfections and tried to sand it to a shape that was acceptable of my liking. I had to apply the bondo a few times due to all the sanding required and then I used spot filler for a couple little areas.

    Now that I was happy with the results i applied adhesion promoter and then a couple coats of filler primer. After wet sanding with 1000 grit between coats I was pleased with the glassy smooth finish.

    Right now I just dropped it off to have it repainted BSP. When I get it back I'll have to attach the metal and it should be good to go.

    I have no experience with any of this stuff really so I just folllowed the steps the body shop told me they would personally use. I'm sure there are other ways to do this or ways that would more than likely be better for doing something like this but I did what I could. As for the recessed portion I just followed the countless write ups.

    Hopefully I like the look of it after the countless hours spent on it, becuase I think I'll have a hard time selling something like this.

    looks good, I was thinking of something like this, covering those small side things and instead of cutting the center out, I would tape it off and colormatch it.
