Thanks for a great thread! Though I'm not using a Grillcraft. A big help doing mine the last couple of days. Not sure what I did wrong when I cut the pieces out of the cross member but they where too short so I used the trimmed plastic pieces from my mudflaps. Worked out great! I'm ready for paint tomorrow.

I got it from HID Xenon World on ebay. They sell it in a 12"X48" sheet. I cut it to fit and used black door edge trim to cover the rough edges after I cut it. It's listed as Universal Black Aluminum Mesh Grille. Search for grille mesh on ebay and scroll down and the picture will show the mesh and have the word Luxebuy across the mesh. $39.99 shipped. I tried attaching the link but it failed.

Question: Where did you drill the holes for the grillcraft? It's been a while since I installed my GC flush and it didn't look like the inner part of the grill would allow it to go inside - from the front anyway.

Did you just push it inside the inner diameter of the grill snug and drill / install similar to the flush version?

I may have to do this mod. really like the look.. I wish I had kept the cut out cross members now.. ugh.

Thanks. I want to give this a go sometime soon and trying to find the best (and cheapest) way to go for the mesh.

just about black everything. i don't dig the chrome.
hey klipp just wondering why you left that sort of "camel's hump" piece on the grill instead of cutting it and making that insert pice just a simple "U" type if insert? i know it seems like i'm splitting hairs here but just trying to get a feel of things.
it looks pretty damn sick btw.

I was thinking about cutting out the middle section of the grill to make one whole insert but i thought how this method in keeping the middle section would be more supportive. I'm at a point right now where i will be doing the bondo work on it. Never have done this........very time consuming but its looking good.......taking my time and doing this right....i can see if you are in a hurry this mod could go wrong quickly!

    :)

it's a lot easier to epoxy into place being one piece with the bridge in the middle intact. also stronger. then you just file / sand the edge into the grill surround after the epoxy has set to blend it into the rest of the grill surround
