I talked to my dad who is a auto body man for 30 yrs and he told me that this is the way we want to do it vs the bondo way because it does give it more support. Very good job man rep for you. Way to think outside the box

Just one question, and I need an opinion from anyone (and everyone)(and I dont mean to jack your thread) but the surrounding piece on my grille is chrome....I hate it, but should I sand it down and paint it black? I have no money to color match desert sand mica:( lol

    thanks bud

you can buy a color matched one for a decent price here
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...-gen-new-oem-color-matched-grilles-175-a.html

but if you just want it flat black, then yeah, sand it down really well and get yourself a good quality paint from the body shop supply store.

haha, thanks man. took me a while to figure that one out too! look for the little scale icon on the bottom left corner of every post. :)

Thanks for the link but they dont carry my color. I think I'm going to have to do it flat black. Idk if my color ever came out in sport trim.

BUT, I did manage to find the scale icon lol so +rep!

Finally got mine done! Me and two other friends got at it on Saturday. Looks really good i went with the regular Grillcraft not Satoshi. The next step is using Kevin's HID conversion steps.

So this is my weekend project starting fri. But I have a question tell what you guys think. Keep in mind I will be using klipps method.

Being broke sucks especially when the mod bug bites you. I looked around the net for some mesh but it was all too pricey for me right now. So I decided to visit a local metal shop in search of some perforated metal or maybe even expanded metal. The perforated they had was a bit ugly with too much spacing between the holes so I went with the expanded sheet instead, which is also a bit ugly but hey lol.

Heres a pic with my keys on the sheet so you guys can see the size.

Im going to clean it up with some diesel and spray it black. Also it is flat pressed.

I figured I didnt need an "official" grille to get this done and this sheet only cost me
$12. Although it is a bit heavier I think it will turn out good, I just need to add more bolt mounts for extra support.

    So watcha guys think?

could work. i'd spray it with rubberized undercoating over the black paint. and if you don't like this mesh, you can always easily swap it for other mesh down the road. go for it, and post pics once you're done! :)
