Christ I can't even imagine. The 4.0L is enough (but only adequate) grunt for my DC, the 2.7L would be underpowered for that much weight, and then if you throw four people and some stuff in there...

Unless you are towing or approach the payload...then the 4.0L doesn't have enough power.

It would look a lot better if everything was color matched instead of the bare black plastic and if the put some nice Toyota alloys on it.

I wouldn't have a problem with the 4cyl. It would be sufficient if you wanted something to haul the kids around in and do some light duty work. Let's face it. How many people actually use a truck for its intended purpose? 99% of the time I use mine just like I would a Camry.....just to get me to work and back. The thing that turns me off about it is the lowered stance and the tiny wheels, but that could be fixed.

I like it :) It looks quite practical for hauling kids and groceries and lighter stuff around. And those 5-lug wheels and drivetrain look to me like they are saying "betcha I get better gas milage than your double cab" which means a lot to some people. I wouldn't mind carpooling in this little buggy.

Thats my ONLY complaint about the 5lug Taco. Would it hurt Toyota so much to put some decent TIRES and wider wheels on it?? The tire/wheel combo on the base 5luggers just looks ridiculous...

24K? for that? I paid a lil over 25K for my DC TRD Sport. Not worth it.

WHat is enough power? I've driven the 4cyl overloaded at highway speed just fine... and that's texas highway speed, loaded to bump stops, pulling a trailer. Your 4 litre argument holds exactly zero water. If you're at 14000 feet, well yea, I had trouble going up monarch pass at 60 fully loaded.. but there's no air up there, and you don't live there. The 4 litre has more horsepower than the last semi I drove.
Sounds like some of you guys need to be introduced to either modesty or a sports car. Just cause you're from the south doesn't mean you have to drive a truck. You can drive whatever you want with no real winters.

Telling me you want a 6 second 0-60 under overload conditions? THat's a good way to snap a spring or rear end.

I absolutely know I'm awesome both , I've been around me my whole life. its a very low tolerance for idealism and a poor filter/short temper and understand I sometimes go overboard, at least when talking to idealists.
I try to limit it. I'll leave the forum; this type of forum isn't my scene. Get along great with the pragmatist crowd... I'll stay there.
