    SEE POST 12!

Does anyone have workable codes for the Transmission Fluid Temperature on a 2016 Tacoma? I've tried all three on the ScanGauge site and I don't get a reading from any of them.

Also, the water temperature is reading 198 at idle (haven't looked at it while driving yet since I'm still trying to figure out the ScanGauge) but it seems a lot higher than the water temperature on my 2012. It ran normally at 185, creeping up to 192 or so when I was towing my car trailer. Can anyone with a ScanGauge verify the 198 number?

    Thanks!

On the coolant temp, find out the t stat rating. I'll bet your '12 had a 180* and the '16 has a 190*. Hot is good for emissions.

Mine shows 200 to 202 on an extended idle. The faster the engine runs the more air gets pulled through, depending of course on the load being pulled. Happy though that I have the little tool.

Thanks...took mine down the road this evening and it varied between 191 and 200. Any luck getting it to read the transmission fluid temps?

Negative on the xmission temps. I even went so far as sending mine in to Linear Logic for upgrade, and to pursue the xmission temp desires. He gave me two possible codes, neither of which worked. As far as I know, either 1) Toyota will not release the codes, or 2) There is no sensor for there to be a code for.

trans temps are often proprietary, I have a bluetooth easy diag that required license payment for me to read Toyota's trans temps when they are idling above me.

The tech stream actually will show one trans temps but my easy diag shows two AT Temp 1/2 both are usually within 3 degrees of each other.

There is another secret method that I never use.

You jump pin CG and TC and bump the transmission back and forth from P to D until the D light illuminates, when its flashing its too hot.

if I remember, Toyota usually tracks 2 temps for trans. 1 at the converter and 1 at the pan.

that how it was on the 2012 Tacoma and 2014 4runner.

The codes for the 2nd Gen don't appear to work for the 3rd Gen transmission...and Bishop84's "secret" method is hard to do when you're pulling a trailer at 65 mph and start wondering about the transmission fluid temp

the pids for the new engine have not been found so right now its a guessing game. they didn't re use the old pids from the previous engine.

    Gene,

We are currently testing XGauge codes for the 2016 Toyota Tacoma as the ones listed on our website do not work. This is due to the new transmission installed in this model. We have had positive feedback from our customers regarding these codes. We have not listed these codes on our website yet as they are still in the testing phase.

Please enter the following codes and let me know if they work.

    Transmission Temperature 1 (Degrees Fahrenheit)
    TXD: 0701221AAA
    RXF: C462051A36AA
    RXD: 3008

    NAM: TF1

    Transmission Temperature 2 (Degrees Fahrenheit)
    TXD: 0701221AC0
    RXF: C462051A36C0
    RXD: 3008
    MTH: 00090005FFD8

Awesome. I'll plug them in when able, and report back. WTG

No, I need it because I tow a car trailer and I like to monitor the water and transmission fluid temps while I'm in the road. Still won't know if the level is correct but if it starts running hot it'll be a place to start looking.

    Thanks!

I've only driven less than a mile but they started out about even at 118dF and one worked up to 157dF, the other to 164dF. I'm sure a longer run would generate higher temps but they are both lower than the water temp which quickly jumps into the 180+ range.
