Make sure you post your results...I'd be interested in seeing them. Although my truck is new, I've been waiting several years for the ability to monitor the temps on a Tacoma. I'd bought an UltraGuage back when I had my 2012 since they were supposed to be able to read the fluid temperature...but of course they couldn't...and I didn't want to throw any more money for the possibility that another gauge could read it.

These codes aren't working for me. Might be because I have a older version. I have version 3.17.
-A283 is my current reading. The numbers change as the rpms and speed change too. From 40 to 581.
I have been meaning to send it in for a software upgrade so I can record the performance data. This might be another reason for a upgrade.

Yes, probably the reason...I just purchased mine thru Amazon this week for $109 plus free shipping.
    Good luck.

Mine too was an old unit; 7 or 8 years. Currently they are on Version 4.0 or higher. I sent mine in for the upgrade, $25. You will see a few minor changes, but not much. Pretty sure you'll need the upgrade though. If you sit tight, I'll get the new codes in soon... tomorrow maybe, and I'll let you know.
    UPDATE:
Before upgrade, I was version 3.17, 6 years old. After upgrade, version 4.11.
    Negative on "performance monitor?"

    Ok.
    1) Entered the new PIDS into my upgraded (Version 3.17 to 4.11 6 year old ScangaugeII a and it's working perfectly.
So if you have an older unit, send it in and for $25 it will be upgraded and the ScangaugeII with the new PIDS for the 2016 Tacoma automatic transmission temperature readings will be up and running. Will call Linear Logic tomorrow and thank them for following through with what they said they were intent on doing. Customer service is NOT dead. It just smells bad at times.

    Hallelujah!

Methinks there is going to be a lot of SGII's sold in the near future. Now I have a reason to pull mine out of my other car and figure out a way to install it in the Tacoma. I'll probably need an update since mine is about 6 years old.

Thanks to the folks that drove this to success.

Dumb question, maybe... PIDs are a standardized thing, right?

So the PIDs that would work here for a Scangauge would also work for the Ultragauge?

Congrats...can you see it easily down there? I bought a window mount so I can just glance to the side at it.

Very easy to see. But more important to me, is during daylight hours it's clear, and with nighttime illumination it's not distracting as I drive with very low lighting.
I also wanted it down low so as to 1) be out of direct sunlight, and 2) not in direct view to passerbyers.
    All personal opinion stuff.

Drove down to the piers in Biloxi to buy some shrimp off the boats this morning and took photos of the ScanGauge on the way home. In highway driving (70 mph) both TF1 and TF2 read about the same, at one time they were both 190dF and a while later they were both 192dF. When stopped for turning the lower number would go up, the highest I saw was 199dF when I stopped at home.image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg

So if you're like me, as you shuck the shrimp, you cook them, and by the time I'm done, there's zero left.
Tell me that's not proper fresh shrimp etiquette?

We buy it 50lbs at a time, pop the heads then freeze in baggies till we need it. At $3.50 per lb it's a great deal.

kinda odd that the temps are the same. previous setups had a bigger difference between the two temps. readings came from the pan and the converter.

the pan temp should be way lower than the converter temp.

This was highway driving..I was under the impression that the temps would be close if the converter was locked as it is in that kind of driving. I didn't take photos of stop and go driving because 1) it's not safe and 2) I didn't have time even if it were. The bottom temp in that case was higher as you can see in the last photo which was a short bit of stop and go into my driveway.
