Last update for a while if ever to who it matters . I have now run at least 15 or more start , drive , shutdown cycles with the Scangage II V4.22 , with trans temps working , plugged in without any error messages or alarms. I am using the cann only cable Scangage sent me. I have a 2016 TDR OR with premium and tech package without JBL.
Thankyou Linear Logic , and TW members , for the help if you are reading ! I am really happy with this . It will be easy to decide if this truck needs a larger trans cooler in the hot weather when towing this next summer .

Any Tacoma owners that also have other Toyota vehicles (Like Corolla or Scion) know if the ScanGaugeII works well across the Toyota product line? I am looking for a scan tool that can display the Tacoma trans temp but also read and reset trouble codes on other late model Toyotas?

Try 00010001FFD8 and/or 0001000AFFD8 for the math code. (Mine doesn't work; otherwise, I would try.)

    Just tried the first one.

Water temp is 48, outside is 2 degrees. Saying 32 for trans since truck wasn't running. Seems like it would be accurate to celsius. Thanks dude

Doesn't specify if that is celsius but given the read out, temp outside etc seems about right of what it should be and all that was changed was the MTH code to 00010001FFD8
Cheers to @Tharris242 for the code.

Just curious what would be an alarming temp to see (F or C I can convert)

@Taco16LB Your ScanGaugeII still working properly? I'm looking to buy before towing season if ScanGauge everything figured out.

I've got the ScanGauge II and transmission temperature works right from first time I installed.

Scangage sent me a new cable that only sends the cann info to the unit . I do not know if my original problem with the BSM was a fluke or not with the old cable , but I have not had a problem at all with the new cable. It works great.

FYI: If your SG isn't ancient (~10 years old, like mine) you shouldn't have any problems. I was apparently the unlucky one to discover the problem with the 1st gen SG and the 3rd gen Tacoma.

Linear Logic is taking care of my problem and looking for additional Xgauges that will work for the 3.5... nothing yet. (We scanned/pinged my truck to see if there are any other parameters that the OBDII will report.)

Just wondering has anyone notice tf2 runs hotter and fluctuates a lot more? Found while moving it drops more than at idle.

It does fluctuate like you said. I assumed one was after cooler and the other after torque converter. That would explain the fluctuation.

I just installed the Scangauge II and am monitoring Trans 1 and 2 temps.

General question- what is everyone monitoring in the other two scangauge slots?

    Thanks!

I am doing trans 1&2 plus water temp and voltage. Since I bought the unit for towing exclusively those made the most sense.
