    Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone has bought a scan gauge II north of the 49th from a shop? I would like to buy one over the counter, to simplify potential warranty issues. I found a couple online places, but nothing local. Looks like eBay and one specialty store in Ontario.

    Thanks ahead of time

I bought from the specialty store in Ottawa. It's ezzy pezzy. I'd go that route. Shipping was less than 3 days.

No one else stocks them. Even if Crappy Tire did, they'd want double the price for it.

You might post a poll and see if folks who own them have ever had a warranty issue. Or a problem of any kind...........

I bought my first used from a friend 4-5 years ago, bought a 2nd (for the truck) off ebay last year, and a neighbor has one he bought direct from them.

I've never done anything except install and program them. Nary a hiccup.

    Thanks for the replys. :)

I ordered mine online from Ottawa as well. (Gifford Automotive) :) Still waiting for it to arrive. (Ordered two days ago). I haven't heard of any problems, but with technology and gadgets, you can't be too careful

Here is the link, if anyone wants to grab one.

Yeah, I bought mine (ScanGuage II with X-Gauge) online from the States back in April of 2008 and have never had an issue.

Looks like Gifford is selling them at $169CAD, Linear Logic sells them directly for $169US..
I ordered my first one from Gifford, second one for our car I lucked into second hand..

I've had no issues at all, and Warren and Tom @Scangaugecanada were both helpful getting me x-codes..

Why? POS info overload . I fill up and calculate fuel mileage in my head immediately.

You do not need stupid and useless info that this overpriced piece of plastic crap provides on a POS that will only get in your way and deplete your wallet for no gain. You have a fuel guage, an odometer, and a brain. Enough said.

That is my honest opinion, but that does not count.

No one. Why do you think that people get rid of them after 6 months? What benefit does it add to your driving experience that your present gauges, odometer and basic calculation capacities not give you? It's a piece of useless crap. Buy an OBD II reader for all your vehicles and be done.

My thoughts too. After my little incident offroad that bent my spindle and wreck a rim I had some codes to clear from the ECU as well as some weird other things that popped up. With the Scangauge I was able to clear the codes while on the move as well as keep an eye on my AFR to make sure some of the codes I was getting weren't causing any major issues. I also use the scangauge to check transmission temperatures when I tow with the Tacoma which is pretty freaking critical if you've ever seen how fast our transmission temperatures can skyrocket on these overworked little trucks. Another use I find for the scangauge is on the fly speedo recalculation. I run bigger tires and it's convenient to know what speed you are going on highway without having to over think things.

Transmission temperature. Plenty of people run them for more than 6 months lol.

Bluetooth readers are fine, but then you need to have your phone on the dash running whatever software you figure you need and here that's a distracted driving ticket. You can't have any additional video devices running on the dash in Alberta. That includes dash cams too, which must switch off the video feed when recording while driving here to stay legal. I only know because my wifes friend is LRPS (Lethbridge Regional Police Service) and told me when he was checking out my truck after a Christmas party. I have a cheap dash cam and he mentioned that I have to set it up that way or an asshole could write me a ticket.
I sense you might be bored :D.

    Reported for boredom.

    Does a Scanguage remove boredom?

Why the fuck do I need to know the temperature of my tranny when I haven't even looked up or have a clue what the tranny temp should be????

Hit up your local phone sex chat line. I'm sure they can give you better information about tranny temperatures than anyone else. It might help your boredom too.

Just go down to Club Super Sexe and look for the girl with a banana in her shorts. She can hook you up with the information you need. She might even let you check the tranny temperature first hand. Play safe.
