Well, I guess everyone has their own opinion on information, but in my trade (HVAC) it's critical. We use a controller that lets us know a metric ton of useful info (part numbers, algorithms, refrigerant charge, static pressure, etc) on any given system. The scanguage is just another tool to help diagnose or forsee a problem on these trucks before the smoke begins to billow from under the hood. Like just last week, my dad's Tundra was low (actually close to empty) on coolant. He didn't know until his temp gauge on the dash suddenly spiked. Because it's not an exactly accurate gauge, it ran hot for several hours. Woulda been nice to see the motor temp climb one degree at a time, and realize something was wrong sooner. When you know it always runs at, say, 89 degrees, and suddenly starts climbing to 120-130, guess what?!

    Anyway, enough rambling.

In all fairness, ya most people just use it for mileage. Which I do too lol. Which is also extremely useful.

Edit: Scanguage installed. Been running it for about 2wks now. Works great. Also lets me know outside ambient (intake temp) with these under optioned tacos ;)

I use an Ultragauge. Great for temps. Everything but the trans Temp on my 07 FJ. I never tow anything heavy so it's all good so far. Great for checking trouble codes and clearing them also.

Just ordered a new circuit board for my SC2.. Ver 4.08 doesn't do TFT on the 2017..
Linear-logic offers an update version process where you send in your gauge and $25usd and they update it and send it back. Additionally for Canadians they offer to send you a new circuit board for $35usd shipped. You just open the case and switch them.

I bought the gauge in 2012 when we bought our 2905 tacoma. We just brought home a 2017 and the old version of the scanguage couldn’t read the transmission temps on the new truck. Because we tow a trailer that is the reason we have a scanguage.. new version reads both transmission pan temp and temp at the converter.

I doubt it. Only place I found one online was this store in Ontario. But maybe better luck in a GB.
