Why not just get a 18 month 0% interest credit card? I get em all the time. flipped student loans onto them for years and most recetly have a ton of wedding expenses I put on 2 that I am paying off. Usually only is 2-3% to transfer balances over onto it. I have saved thousands of dollars in interest by doing this for debt. Yeah you pay the fee but it doesn't come close to what I would have paid in interest charges every month.

nope why would I be joking. I have paid off at least $18,000 worth of student loans off this way. Spending less than $500 in fees to transfer them over. which I spent over $5,000 in interest the first year just having student loans. That is why I decided to go this route. Been doing it ever since for paying down debt. Plus my credit is off the charts now lol

 

If i cant pay for at least half in cash, keep saving. Not including house and transportation.
Credit Cards got me in trouble enough, now education loans, they will take your first born, and garnish you wages..... cant afford it sell some thing

oh I agree...house and car the exception. Student loans destroy you but hey might as weel try and get the interest as low as you can. I didn't want to pay $20K in interest for $38K in loans.

 

I had to sacrifice for 5 years. I wanted my SL paid off in 5 years and not the 15-20 years they amortize it at. So rolling $3-4K at a time onto those 0% CC were the way to knock it out quicker. Granted my payments were off the chart. I will be done with them in about 6 months.

 

Things should get better when the wife is done with school.

She was to start the nurseing part in Feb but got a email last week saying she starts in Aug now

They gave here 2 weeks to get insurance, tb test, CPR, etc but were 7 months ahead now. And only 11 months to she's a RN. Then move time

 

yeah well I am just opposite of you. I still owe about $25K on my truck haha I was just paying the SL off faster since they have the much higher interest 6.5%-8% vs the 2% on my truck...it will be next!

 

I owe 20 and thinking of SAS. Thoughts?
