I did the same thing the first time and cussed the dash kit too. :D I am not all that happy with it even after though, mine doesnt quite match up up on top. But it is what it is.

Anyone with a double din Metra kit in their 09'? I noticed they are listed as 05'-08', is there any difference to be concerned about?

If you have any play or wiggle... then you have installed the kit wrong. Did you snap the front trim plate to the side plastic brackets? Also, do you have the five clips that attached to the trim panel. Mine only had the one, so I went to Toyota and picked up the other four for about $4.

My Scosche is so SOLID that it doesn't even move without the four bolts in.

nope. It should all be the same. They probably are going to leave it be until the 3rd Gen's come out

I have both the crutchfield supplied Metra and the Schosche.

I am of the opinion that both are pieces of shit.

How the hell you are going to make plastic support brackets to hold that whole thing into the dash is beyond me. Cheap terrible crap all around. But since it's the only thing you have to choose from you are kinda screwed when it comes to decisions.

I'm not happy with either but I think the Metra is only slightly better than the Douche unit.

Well using the factory mounts, I can now just pop the scosche trim off and get to the ac control a lot easier.

I was not pleased with the Scosche single DIN mount. It matches the existing dash very well but installing a Pioneer HU was a bitch. I am also not happy with the support for the HU body as the front of the kit is all that supports the entire weight. The directions were not a lot of help either. I do not seem to have the noise issues others are having.

I have been looking at HU's with NAV or a computer install and I will try another brand.

When it is all said and done I will not recommend a Scosche kit.

Yes I used the existing factory radio mounts, played with the mount and three holes lined up perfect, nice and solidly mounted as noted in one of the pics posted and then snap the outer ring to the dash.

I just purchased both. To me the Scosche has a better faceplate, it seems to be better "finish" quality than the Metra. I'll have to trim the Metra for the emergency button and the trim piece is warped, so I'll need to epoxy it to the faceplate so it sits flush.

Overall I'm disappointed with both. The DD mounting brackets for the Scosche are simply unacceptable and I refuse to use them. Where's that Scosche rep? They need to offer the brackets for DD installs as metal or at least very hard plastic. I can't believe they are selling these!

The Metra isn't as finished, quality wise. Looks cheap in my opinion.

So I'm sitting here trying to decide what to do and thanks to bookmonke, I'm going to try and use the factory mounting brackets (installing a DD Pioneer) and using the Scosche faceplate. Has anyone else done this with success?

If that doesn't work, I'll use the Metra faceplate once I "fix" it.

    We need more alternatives...

Just use the factory metal mounts with the Scosche, that is what I did and they worked fine.
