    LATEST UPDATE (August 2022):

Not much new going on in the last couple of years.

    • Recently upgraded the head unit to an Alpine iLX-F511
    • Had the old weld on sliders cut off and replaced with RSG Metalworks bolt ons.
    • Changed headlights to the Alpharex Luxx LEDs

Well, I am getting to the point where I think a build thread is in order.

I bought my 2014 MGM DCSB TRD Off Road in July 2014. I knew when I bought it that this would be a project that would drain my bank account but it would be a labor of love.

I love the truck and the parts of the Colorado and Utah mountains she gets me to!

I will grab a pic of the sub enclosure this weekend. Thanks! I am undecided on the bumpers that I will go for. I really like the Pelfreybuilt stuff but I would also like to keep it local and go through the man himself (Corey Sain) at InSain Fab here in Colorado. Just need to see a couple more 2nd gen bumpers from him and decide how I wanna go. Looking at under body armor (skids) next I think. Probably just buy one at a time and put em on over this year.

Yea, I am actually trying to decide myself. I think I am leaning toward the aluminum pelfreybuilt.

Thanks man. The 285s are a bit challenging. I did the BMC up front and some light fender trimming. I took it on some pretty moderate/advanced trails a couple of times this month and found that I also need to trim out some rear fender now. Damn near ripped the fender flare off on the trail when the rear tire flexed up. So....they work GREAT on the trail, they look awesome but yeah.....trimming is required.

Latest update.....fender flare project. Turned out to be a lot more to this than I anticipated.
    • Got the Bushwacker fender flares
    • Had 2" of my rear fender cut to better fit my 285s before I go installing the new flares
      • Note: 285's SHOULD fit with no rubbing in the back when stock. I know! Mine doesn't. I broke my driver side rear flare this season from the heavy amount of rubbing. Pretty sure a proper leaf pack (as opposed to an add-a-leaf) would have resolved my issues however, I was in it to chop the rear anyway. Head start on larger tires down the road. Decided to do this NOW before I install the flares so that it is done and out of the way.
    • Primed and painted the cut edge
    • Installed edge guard on cut edge for protection
    • Had the bushwackers cut for clearance (basically cut off the bottom edge)
    • Dropped the flares at Line-X to be coated in the UV rated Line-X. Should be ready for install by weeks end.

    LATEST UPDATES

    • Removed my LED headlights and fog lights. I was blinding people and that wasn't cool. Switched to PIAA extreme white headlights and PIAA Ion Yellow fog lights.

    • Also ordered vinyl badges. I will be de-badging the truck and replacing the badges with vinyl replicas. Flat, easy to maintain and no need to keep re-applying plasti dip since I prefer black badges.

    BIG UPGRADE COMING SOON!!

Recently placed an order for the following:
    • All Pro Off Road Expedition Leaf Springs
    • UBolt flip kit
    • New bump stops
    • eLocker guard
    • Extended brake lines

Next season is going to RULE.

FINALLY got the Bushwacker project done!!!!

It was MUCH more of a pain in the ass than I ever anticipated.

The bottom edges of the Bushwacker flares are cut off to allow more clearance. I had been rubbing quite a bit in the rear and broke one of the stock fender flares this past 4 wheeling season.

So......fender trimming first, then cut the bottom edge of the Bushwackers and had them Line-X coated.

Bought all the hardware necessary to install the flares against the fender itself (yeah.....they don't actually install how you'd think).

    - 44 Button head allen bolts.
    - 88 Fender washers
    - 88 Rubber fender washers
    - 44 5/16 nuts for spacers

Had to drill several holes for the rears and a couple for the fronts. The holes of the flares don't actually line up to the factory holes on the truck from the stock flares.

Again....huge pain in the ass but glad it's done. Looks sharp.
