1200 is for a complete lift..............shocks all around, springs, and a full leaf pack.

Is your 1000 quote for shocks and springs installed?

Reading this thread makes me feel so much better about my last month. I was looking at the basic $299 lift from toytec and even started a thread about it. Then greenrustic started talking about his sweet setup and next thing you know...boom full OME! I just got it installed yesterday with LR UCAs and I'm so glad I went this route.

Most of us on this site are all wired the same I swear. We are all easily convinced to spend $1k + on our trucks at the drop of a hat. I find comfort in that....thanks everyone for being as compulsive as me. :D

haha yeah - Greenrustic has been a big help to me too. Basically looking for the same lift.

I think what it comes down to is:

1 - You can spend nearly 1000 on a suspension and cosmetic upgrade

    OR

2 - You can spend 300 on a suspension liability.

and most of us have the common sense to know what's best to put on our $30,000 trucks

Ok, so I'm having a hard time finding the coils. The back is done and soooo much better. Can anyone give me a link to the coils? I can't find any anywhere. Looking for something to support body armor on the front end. Rather not go with whole new struts, just coils. And I am not gas shock fan. Anyone of a link or brand of coil for a heavy front end?

What did you end up doing to the rear? I really hope you didn't go for the $1k leaf springs!

Depending on how much you lifted the rear and how heavy you're talking up front, OME, Eibach, Fox, King or Icon coils could be a good match up front. OME and Eibach are cheaper but you can get heavier coils in the other brands and also customize the length to an extent.

So, how much weight do you have up front and how much lift do you want?

Don't want any lift. I already have the 1.5" lift for it. Have to support 125 lb bumper. How about toytec?

Hmmm... stock height coils to support extra weight could be fun to find. OME 883's and Eibachs both give 1.5" of lift on an unladen V6 Tacoma. With a 125# bumper, the OME's would likely be around 1" over stock and the Eibachs would probably be a bit more (they're stiffer). Any of the aftermarket coilovers are stock height (except extended travel) but usually sold as a coilover setup, shock and all. Maybe contact a place like Downsouth Motorsports and see if they have any heavy stock length coils to support your bumper without gaining lift?

The reason for no lift is that I already put on the 1.5" levelers. Between that and the add a leaf, the truck is level. I just don't want the front higher then the rear.

Won't the shock travel (staying with stock length) limit the lift?

And thanks for the all the information people. Very valuable.

Is the "leveler" blocks on the suspension? If yes then pull those out and replace the coil and shock the achieve the height you are looking for.

x2. Lose the blocks and go with lift coils. It will ride better.

As far as stock travel shocks limiting the lift, they limit the downtravel of the suspension. That's the reason for extended travel coilovers but you should use an aftermarket UCA with those.

thats what i said earlier :(..................pull the spacers and just get 1.6" eibachs and 5100s. .1" will not be seen and they will prob sag that much in a month anyways.

If you seriously had no problem with forking over 1k for a "heavy duty" leaf pack i would think you wouldnt have a problem lifting your front end for about a third that.

What about a set of toytec coilovers? just adjust the height exactly to where you want. That way you put them exactly whrere you want for a level truck.

For everybody that wants a good lift but factory ride then go with Rough Country 3/2 kit. Opinions may differ but I love it and it was an easy install. Gives you more tire options than just leveling and maintains that factory rake for when you pull a boat or trailer.

I don't see where the benefit is; for maybe an extra inch, inch and a half worth of travel; versus the cost of a new shocks. I mean I was the first in this thread that said I would rather pay more to get it done right the first time. I could see it with a 3 inch or better lift, but 1.5 inches? Can you give some more detail?

I got 3" out of my lift. Not sure if you were responding to me or not, but got more than 1.5" and maintained a stock ride. If you buy from Rough Country, you get the kit as a whole, don't have to buy extra shocks, comes with new rear shocks that go with the extra 2" in the rear.

I was looking at Rough Country for my 01 TRD 4door pre runner, but haven't found very much positive said about it on this site. Other sites seem to be more favorable towards it. I'm still considering it.

Check out the 1st gen forums for lift info. But Bilstein or OME is the way to go.
