I'm thinking about buying new seats but I want to know if you can buy seats without having to do any welding or "fabbing" don't know what that means but I saw it on another thread... Or drilling new holes, if you have your seats swapped please post pics!!!! I want to see if it would be worth the time!

"fabbing" means fabricating. I'm doing a seat swap with 2001 Lexus ES300 seats welded onto the stock Tacoma rails. Since I have an ext. cab, I wanted to keep the sliding mechanism intact so I grinded down the Tacoma rails until I could weld angle iron on. From there it's as simple as welding the Lexus chairs to the angle iron and wiring it all up. The motorized controls and heated pads are a nice touch. Check out my thread for some info.

As for your question no there aren't any direct bolt on seats (off an existing vehicle at least). Even 3rd gen 4Runners which are identical with our 1st gens have one offset foot which will require modifying.

Your only choice are racing seats. Corbeau makes brackets that mount directly to the Tacoma floorpan. Only issue is racing seats are expensive. A setup will run you $1,000+

You can also do mastercraft seats. They make brackets for our tacomas too. I had them in my old 5 lug to replace the bench.

If you need to modify the truck to fit something anyway, go with Volvo seats. Find something out of an early/mid 2000s XC70 or S60 and you'll be very happy. It'll also make you wonder how no other manufacturer manages to make a seat that's anywhere close to as comfortable.

With the Volvo seats I was reading that 1 or 2 holes don't match up, is that true?

I have no idea. I'm just saying if you need to modify anyway, don't waste your time with anything else. Volvo seats are the best.
