So i am trying something today, I ordered the dorman air valves for a tundra. The valves look the same as the tacoma ones but the connectors are pointing a different direction. Going to take the valves off the dorman part and mount them to the tacoma body. Will let you know how it goes

Update: Swapped the valves over. Got the pump to run 4 times and no codes. So far so good. There are some slight differences in the valves. The connector is on the opposite side of 1 valve, but that's fixable.

The wiring for the stock valves goes to a small bracket in front of the valve. It can be removed and the wiring routed around the inside of the valves to reach the connector.

The other difference is the length of the air spout which is fine, just don't push the hose all the way on or you will block the air flow.

    Original valves.

Wiring originally went around the left side of the photo. Removed the bracket and rerouted to the other side.

    Longer inlet spouts.

Tommorow I will program my ecm with the update to make the pump run after shutdown and will keep people updated

Sorry that my photos are so big, i dunno how or why that happened.

Is there not a tsb for a new flash that gets the 12 tacos to do the same as the 13s? I will have to read the updates and see what they do.

We have a drew tech flasher at my work. Works great. Just gotta pay the subscription fee for what every make your programming.

Update: Looked at the available ecu updates through toyota, there is none for the air system, theres one for spark knock, one for surging after cold soak, and one for abs module.

Does anyone have a 2012 tacoma where the pump runs after shut down? I'm going to throw the latest update on anyways to see what happens.

How much did the Tundra valves run you? Pretty good idea, the one way valve on those looks like a better design as well.

As far as I know for the pump running after shutdown the 2012's don't do it, Toyota must had realized there problem and fixed it on the 13' and newer trucks.

Yea the reed valve seemed beefier. The only issues i had swapping my valves was the torx bolts were seized solid so i had to break em off and weld em out lol. Also, pump has now run over 20 times and no codes. So i can pretty much say with confidence that they are working. Now i even read somewhere that the valves for some chevys are the same, so may be able to source them cheaper yet

Has anyone's pump AND valves failed? It's usually either or, not both.

Well, count me among the disappointed. 2015 TRD Pro with 23k miles and I threw P2443 today. Took it into my dealer and they're replacing everything under warranty. I can't speak highly enough of how they dealt with this for me. I'll update as needed.

Interesting - a 2015. Was it a broken pump or corroded valves? I know one recent truck ingested the filter in the pump which broke the vanes in the pump and then tore up the valves. So far corroded valves have almost exclusively been 2012s.

Would love to hear any details you have or get from the dealer. Glad they are taking care of it under warranty.

I'll know more after the work is complete- but what I know now is the valves were stuck closed. If you have specific questions you want me to ask them when I pick it up, let me know and I'll write them down and take them in.

Surprised to see a 2015 with the issue, sorry for your luck. On the bright side maybe if 2013-up trucks start failing as well then maybe just maybe Toyota might finally take care of Tacoma owners for this issue.

Thanks! If you can ask them two questions:
    1. Was this just the valves or was there anything wrong with the pump?
    2. Did the valves look corroded or did they fail in some other way?
The 2012s are failing typically due to corrosion from moisture. The 2013 and later purge the valves by running fresh air through them just after the engine shuts down to in theory prevent this. So we are all curious if your 2015 failed because of moisture induced corrosion or if it was something else that caused the problem. Certainly any part in an engine can fail unexpectedly so maybe you were just unlucky here and had a defective part. Or maybe the purge "fix" they applied to the 2013 and later doesn't do as good a job at preventing corrosion as hoped.
