Newbie Post. I bought my Taco about 3 weeks ago. It has 55k miles. I left for work this past Saturday and immediately got CEL and TRAC OFF lights and could tell the truck was in limp mode. I plugged in my code reader and, you guessed it, P2440 and P2442. After extensive searches on line, and mostly with the great guidance here on TacomaWorld I learned this was a new and growing problem that was similar to the Tundra problem that ultimately resulted in an extension of the warranty for this problem for Tundra owners. Went to the dealer this morning. The service rep reported back that the air system had ingested water and ruined either the valve(s) or pump. He said this part is only covered under the 3/36 warranty. I appealed about the Federal Emissions warranty and he said it didn't cover this. I told him I was going to file a complaint with Toyota Customer Service since I thought a repair of this type and expense was ridiculous for a vehicle with so few miles. I also told him I wasn't upset with him or the dealership but there is plenty of online information (I mentioned TacomaWorld specifically) about this growing problem and Toyota should take responsibility and action. I further stated that this is obviously a design flaw because a system like this shouldn't ingest water unless you are trying to submerge the vehicle. I did call customer service and filed my case. After researching and logging my case, the rep offered me $300 back on the repair which I accepted. Incidentally parts and labor were $786 - the pump is $643. I am posting so that those of you who have or will experience this problem know another case has been filed.

lots of guys having it here, so you only got $300 back? I have my claim outstanding with Toyota and still am waiting to hear back, if it will only be $300 I don't even want to waste my time paying the $130 diagnostic fee they want to charge me and I'll just buy the $350 bypass kit and not mess with repairing it. Not paying the $2,400 repair quote the dealership gave.

thats pretty garbage. Heck they gave me a check for $500 last year just for emailing them asking for a roof rack discount....you would think something this serious they would pony up as mad as it is making folks.
