I submitted all my info and my receipt for parts I had purchased when I had to fix this on my truck. Look like I used the new valve part# when I fixed the issue myself. Hopefully they don't give me any grief since I completed the repair myself, looking forward to getting my $500 back. I will keep posted on what the outcome is.

You should hear how many times GM vehicles do it... SMH

Oh and Ford... "Please pull over when it's safe to do so, and shut the engine off."
Then with-out warning.... the motor shuts off and you're sitting in the left turn lane
of a major intersection, in an F-350 Dually that won't restart... :annoyed:

My 2012 Tacoma's air system just failed. I cleared the codes to make it to the dealer 1.5 hours away. Limped for halfway before the vehicle was warm enough to to clear p2440 p2442 and to have them stay off. I too have talked to Toyota Canada and they say that they are a totally different company than Toyota USA and no warrant exists. Same part numbers and everything. I am hoping that in time they start warranting it. I am out over $2200. They told me that on a positive note its only just over 1h in labour.

Talked with my Toyota dealer again with them now saying that they cant see any codes now. I did clear the codes with a borrowed scanner once the vehicle was driven for 45min and warmed up. When I arrived in the neighboring town (usually 1.5 hour drive away)i purchased my own scanned from Canadian Tire with it still showing a permanent error code with no CEL light on. I mentioned this to the Toyota dealer and he told me that after a few starts the vehicle will auto delete permanent codes if it sees no trouble again. This really doesn't sound right to me . My big issue now is if Toyota Canada does start warrantying this air injection system like the USA i wont have any error codes to get my refund. I do have photos of the scanner plugged into my truck with both codes and a photo of my trucks dash with my CEL and traction control light off light on.
I have contacted Consumer Matters with Global News regarding this matter of Toyota USA warrantying a part but Toyota Canada refusing. At this point i feel like i don't have anymore options. IMG_5408.jpg IMG_5435.jpg

If they reply give them my contact, maybe if we can get on the news we can get them to buck up.

Well, finally some hope that we will get reimbursed for our repair jobs. I hope they honor those that did it themselves, I have pictures to prove they were bad!

Thanks for posting this. It's a big deal.

It should be posted with a sticky under the 2nd gen forum with a very clear title.

We have a TSB sticky thread there, but, uh, technically, this is not a TSB.

My question is does the repair still include the same shitty internal foam filter prone to disintigration and ingestion?

Looks like I can join the club now. My 2012 with 24000 miles threw the p2442 code yesterday and went into limp mode. I had to clear the code to get the truck back home. Hopefully the code is stored since it’s now at the dealer

Does this only happen to the V6 Tacomas? Are the 4 Cylender involved too?

Sometimes you can disconnect the battery cable for a few minutes and hook it back up. It will reset the computer to get the truck out of “limp mode”to get you home or dealer. The codes will come back the next time the values stick again.

Got my bill today. Over $2400 Can.

I am hoping they start this campaign in Canada and if so that they refund me like they are doing with the Tundra owners with this same problem. I did get the new optional cover. I can't comment on the new cover cause I haven't seen It yet.

Agreed. BTW, I just got mine done, of course free of charge. As previously stated, you need to either limp in to the dealership or have proof that those codes were there (if you decided to clear them, as I did). Here is the new setup:

Called my dealer regarding the bulletin and seeing if I could get my pump changed out, she said it was NOT a warranty a customer can bring it in for. but for a mechanic to use when he finds said issue..eh..FU DEALER

Just gonna do bypass and give them the finger.

add me to the list for this one...Was driving home yesterday afternoon and out of nowhere the CEL and TRAC OFF lights came on and the truck went into limp mode. Put a OBD scanner on it and I have the P2440 and P2442 codes.

Took it to the dealer today as I still have the certified pre-owned warranty on it and they said it should be covered. I also gave them the bulletin posted earlier in this thread just in case (thank you for posting that in the forum).

Just got a call from the dealer and he confirmed the codes and informed me that there was no need to use the pre-owned warranty. He mentioned that Toyota has extended the warranty on these parts and it will be repaired at no cost to me.

A follow up to my 2.7 4 cyl. air pump replacement post showing the filter I added to the air pump. I bought this for 8.00 shipped and it is working fine so far. Definitely need some sort of filter in place to block sand and dirt from being pulled into the air pump.20180203_123944.jpg

Wow, ironic timing. Just got the P2445 which means the pump now has issues. I guess that's good for me now that it will be covered. Reset cel so I could drive it today. Have pending p0418 which is related to pump but cel hasn't triggered yet .I'm hoping it will come back on so I can bring it to dealer in the morning.

Went by dealer this morning, they ordered the pump and valve and will be installed later this week under the extended warranty.

Does anyone have a spare pump mounting bracket they might want to sell or loan? I would cover shipping both ways. I deleted my pump because of these issues now they are honoring the repair but i doubt they will touch my truck without the pump installed. I have the pump with bolts just missing the bracket that mounts under it.
