    I have a good running 2000 taco 4wd access cab 2.7 5speed
it looks good has a couple glitches not enuff too matter.
I owe a small amount on it, a guy I know is begging me to sell it to him. I can make a couple thousand dollars on it. If I sell I will be looking into buying a 2008 or newer with third or fourth door which will cost me significantly higher price but warranty. If I sell my 2000 taco would you move up to v6? or stick with 4cyl for economy. or do you think i should just keep the one that i am mostly happy with except the door options. Concerned about the newer models reliablilty, mine has 120,000 miles and it runs great and i average 19mpg no matter how i drive no better or worse. just looking for experienced taco owners suggestions. I love these trucks , I am just not so sure about newer models. everyone tells me i will miss this one but if i sell it i will be able to take care of some other bills allowing me to afford payment on newer one.

Has the frame been checked out?
If it fails, Toyota will give you more (150% Excellent KBB) than you'd get selling it privately.

I would never buy an extended warranty on these trucks. Complete waste of money. Instead put what it would cost for the warranty in the bank & only draw from it if you need repairs. Then when the normal extended warranty would have expired, you have extra cash in the bank for upgrades or whatever. I have a 05 & it has 144,500 miles on it. The only thing I have done is normal maintenance. I did replace the factory battery last summer(which would not be covered under an extended).

    Welcome to TW!

I personally would say sell.I had an 03 Tacoma & traded up to the 05 in 05. Best thing I ever did. Even got $2500 more than I owed & it was just a year & a half old.

Get a newer tacoma, you will have much more room. I love my 05 Tacoma DC PreRunner V6. Still has the power it had when I bought it.

    Good luck,
    Sean

True that, I have an Ext. warranty. Complete waste of $$$ When I take my truck in, It's like Toyota dosen't even recognize the warranty.

    beestrom650,
Why do you need the additional doors? Children in the back seat? If you have a real need for the extra doors then maybe but I would keep what you got. I would not add the additional debt without a very good reason.

Keep it. hard to find a first gen 4x4 in good shape if you want out of the payments on a second gen.

On second thought, sell it to me. I can't find a decent first gen 4x4 at a reasonable price. How much you want? Miles? Condition?
