Well after much debate I've decided the Tacoma needs a new home. So myquestion is what’s a 2011 TX/TRD worth? It has 11,400 miles, leveling kit,Goodyear Duratrac 265/76/16, Factory roof rack, Full skid including front TRDskid, Weather tech floor liners front and rear, extang folding bed cover, bedmat ,husky mud flaps and K&N air filter. Truck is better than new!! Hopingfor $30,000 what’s your thoughts? By the way has never seen anything off road.I'm now driving about 2500 miles a month and can't justify the mileage.

Man you should try to hang onto it. No one is going to pay 30. I've been browsing for a 2nd gen the past 2 weeks and brand new 2012 trd sport 4x4 trucks go for 31 (msrp 32 ), and maybe you can negotiate more if someone was ready to buy. I was just window shopping.

G/l with the sale though. But I suggest you try to hang on to it.

I hate to sell believe me but I'm blowing through gas to the point it just doesn’tmake sense.
Couple local dealers offered me $27,000 and $27,500. According to my local dealer the TX models are hard to come by.

One or two things modded... Check out the build thread
i would try to hop on the 27,500 deal then part it out with the mods sell them on here cuz you know they will go quick and end up with 28k or more in your pocket.

Why not private party and cut the $2k dealer profit out?

30k is high IMO. You can get a new, redesigned, TRD OR in my neck of the woods for $32k.

Plus, mods don't add value ... honestly, most of the time they reduce it.

I guess it comes down to someone that has to have the TX. I know most wont pay the difference in price that the sticker reflects. I know the TRD OR are always available but the TX and TX Pro are fairly rare. At least in my neck of the woods.

I'm in the car business and your truck is worth 26-28k to a dealer on a flat out purchase meaning you not trading it in on something they have on their lot. It seems you already got a pretty good bid from a dealer at 27,500 so at least you know where your bottom line is at. I would ask 29,900 for it and dont go below 27,500 cuz you already have a bid for that. Jsut be careful, if too much time passes the dealer might try and tell you the market has changed. And depending on how much time and where you live, that might be true. If you have any questions feel free to ask if you'd like. Good luck to you.

Thanks much. I was hoping for a bit more than the 27,500. Either way I lose but I expected that. We'll see what happens.

Here would be an interesting exercise. Take a look at the purchase price of your new car and it's MPG. Be realistic about the MPG too, that estimate is probably high. Now look at the money you'll save in the better mileage car versus the truck over the next 3 years.

Hypothetically, the car would get 50% better mileage. Say 30 versus 20 per gallon. So you gain 10 extra miles for every gallon or 10 extra miles for every $3.50 spent. If you drive 30,000 miles a year. You spend $1,500 in gas with the Taco vs $1,000 with the car.

By your estimate, you are losing $2,500 by selling the Taco. You spend an extra $1,500 over three year by keeping it, so you net save $1,000 vs buying that better MPG car.

carmax is only good for a vehicle that is completely stock. If it even has aftermkt wheels and tires, carmax deducts the cost of replacing the aftermkt equipment and making the vehicle back to stock from their offer. It is part of their corporate policy and they dont want the liability if something happens to the aftermkt parts. I personally think its a bunch of BS.

Anyways, just trying to save you or him a trip down there.

Because it is not easy to private party sell a 30k vehicle, let alone one that is not paid for.

This. Don't forget to add the additional sales tax and registration fee you're about to take a bath on.
