Total Automotive Performance will be attending the SEMA 2016 Toyota Tacoma Measuring Session on May 20th. This event is only open to aftermarket part manufacturers who are SEMA members, but we will be there to give you all an inside look at the new Tacoma as well as show how the aftermarket develops new performance parts. We are limited as to what we can show, but we will be talking with engineers from Toyota as well as the aftermarket to see what new stuff will be coming out for these Tacomas.

    Too few to list.
    Hi there,
Just wondering what limits to what you can show as the TV show Motor Week already aired the engine and there have been plenty of exterior/interior pics/video already. I believe they mentioned it was from a car show from earlier this month.

I've also spotted the new Tacoma in extra cab model in SoCal (corner of Imperial hwy/Habor Blvd in La Habra) early this week fully wrapped with the vinyl cover from the grill to the tailgate but can clearly see the Tacoma emblem indentation in the front. Guess they are still hiding it.

It would be nice if we find out what mods can be pirated from our 2nd Gens and transplanted to a '16. i.e. seat covers, bed rug, wheels etc..

Not sure, we will be documenting as much as we can. There may be some items that havent been decided upon yet?

We are pretty sure that a few will transplant over

August 2004. I happened upon a caravan of the very first 2nd generation Tacomas driving around the San Francisco Bay Area. They were masked, but I recognized them immediately. I had seen pictures. I followed-err- stalked them as they drove 30 miles back to the NUMMI Factory.

I then bought one of the very first 2005 Tacomas off the assembly line in October 2004.

Basically we are expecting you to go to Torrance on the 20th, gather information, and report back to us.:D

They could always just just measure a 2015.

Front suspension and wheel and tire packages are what I'm curious about. Has this been confirmed yet?

    Ditto.

I want to know if I can lift a 2016 immediately with 2nd gen aftermarket parts or if I need to wait for a few months for parts to hit the market. I have no interest in trading in my lifted Taco for one with stock ride height that I can't change for some period of time.

Also curious if the cab mounts have moved to allow more freedom of tire size selection, and wheel offsets. Further, it would be nice to know whether the lug pattern is the same. If all of this checks out I would be able to just move wheels over to the 2016 when I take delivery.

If it happens to be that all of these components have been revised, I will be holding off on a new truck purchae until parts become available.

We know as much as everyone else at this point. We are just as excited as you guys to see the 2016 Tacoma.

We will be sure to get close ups of the suspension, brake and wheel areas as well as the cab. Hopefully this model is mod friendly - the fact that Toyota offers this opportunity for the aftermarket is a good sign!

    Absolutely!

I wonder if they did anything like this for the FJ?? Although, I guess it was released in the spring.....

If I remember, they started doing this with SEMA in 2012 with the then unreleased Scion FR-S / Subaru BRZ. Its a great opportunity for the aftermarket and gives Toyota just that much more street-cred.

I'm counting on it still being the same frame (it's the same cab, so likely same frame-cab mounts)

Although they finally made the front of the box and the Tailgate the same height as the sides of the box with this Gen-3 redesign. This design flaw never should have made it into production with Gen-2

If by topper you are including shells then I say no. The thicker tailgate will require a longer backend part of the molds.

Do you have some numbers after the measuring session?
