Hey guys, so I just recently purchased a 2020 TRD OR and I’m looking for some easy beginner trails to check out. Truck is fully stock. If anyone can give me any ideas that would be great. Also what’s a good trails app for IOS for finding these locations?

    thanks guys!

Four Peaks Road and Senator Highway were both pretty fun in my stock Taco. Pretty easy but not too short and very scenic.

    +1 for GaiaGPS.
The premium version has access to the "NatGeo Trails illustrated" map which is one of the best maps for finding trails. You can also download the maps for offline use so you dont get lost. It even works on your Apple carplay as long as you sign up for the beta as its still in testing

I just did Bulldog Canyon with some other TW members. You'll need a permit which is pretty easily obtained and costs nothing. It's a short drive and fairly easy to navigate (but get Gaia/Maps!).

I certainly recommend going with someone who has done some offroading before that can at least ride with you and spot you on some of the more technical spots but your OR can handle it because I did it in a stock SR with AT's and was followed by a lightly modified 2WD Sport that ran better than me!

And welcome to Tacomaworld @itsmeAlex_B and @tapir44 !

I just started as well. So far I’ve done Four Peaks and Butcher Jones. Butcher Jones is a lot of fun with different terrain for you to test your skills on. I’d like to try out Bulldog Canyon (already have my permit), just trying to find some people to go with.

If you’re going to hit up Bulldog Canyon, you can apply for your permit here. It’s free and it only took a day to get the permit.

Gaia GPS is the app to get for sure for your iOS device. Also check out https://azoffroading.com/.

    Welcome to TW!

I will third (or 4th) recommend Gaia GPS and the Guide to Arizona Backroads book.
Additionally, I recently learned about this website https://www.trailsoffroad.com/states/AZ It has up to date reviews on conditions on a lot of the trails and you can get a free account and get the GPX download for various trails.

I forgot to add, I like the Montana Mountain Loop. Great views, nothing stock can't handle.

Awesome!! Thank you guys for all the input. Keep them coming I’m making a list of places to go off of this. Along with downloading and familiarizing my self with the Gaia app. But yeah I’m guessing these trails should be good on the stock tires right?

You should be fine. Just watch your line and dont be afraid to stack rocks or ask for help. The trails listed above are easy, Montana mountain might have rain ruts. Butcher Jones can be easy up to difficult, depending where you go. Just use your best judgment.

Yeah today I drove up to box canyon. Which was pretty easy just flat dirt road. But my issue is I’m new to all of this and as of now it’s only me my girl and my dog lol. So I don’t really know anyone else with another truck if things don’t go well. But for now I’m still learning and just gonna take it easy and play it safe if I feel I won’t make the trail I’ll just turn around and find another route. But I’ll say that just today made me pretty excited about the off roading.

You should have kept going! Maybe bigger tires and a lift before Box canyon tho.

Little by little. But for only having the truck for less then a month I’ll tell you what I’m beyond hyped about buying things for it. For now just looking to do entry level trails and learn the ropes
