(serious..ish) What's with everyone buying a truck, spending 20k in mods, and selling a month later?

Very very little on my rig was purchased new and I have just about everything at this point.

Very thankful for TW's classifieds, Craigslist, and just know what's cross compatible with a little DIY.

My upper arms are from an FJ, sliders from a 1st gen, headers from a 1GR Tundra, cat back from a 4Runner, airbox from an FJ front bumper is from a Tacoma not of my year and didn't have brackets fabbed those, everything else just been really good deals on used gear.

Most recently my hammer hangers and shock relocation kit.

Hell who needs a truck or reality? You can now go live in the metaverse fantasy land, buy some virtual real estate that doesn't exist and smoke pretendica.

I would wager that your change of situation, being driven by mature and responsible decision making, is in the minority in relation to this topic.

I spent 10k, and I'll be keeping it until it's paid off and hopefully for much longer. So at least 5 years for me.

But that's just the market right now. Spend 10k, make 15. Like it or not, that's the way it is.

While I can't speak for credit card debt. Why not take on debt when you can easily earn double the interest with I bonds. At the rate we're going with inflation my final truck payment will be with a dollar that is worth 50% less than when I bought it.

Speak for yourself. I have positive equity, no credit cards, and my "house" is mobile and paid for. SHTF, I'm going to the woods and if you are smart, you should ignore the smoke from the fire.

Oftentimes I think I need a $10,000 suspension with new spindles, billet UCA and LCAs, LT adjustable shocks, front and rear bump stops, expedition leaf packs...

Then I have an exercise to remind myself I don't.

I am just hoping to score some cheap TRD rims so they can keep selling...

To be fair, our potential TACO is a whim purchase, but we have talked about getting a truck for a long time. The budget committee directed the purchase, so away we go. We also know what we want it for and have driven one before purchasing. This is a snow / work truck. We have other cars when we want a smooth ride.
