(serious..ish) What's with everyone buying a truck, spending 20k in mods, and selling a month later?

Oddly, after paying off the truck I’m less inclined to sell it. Though I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a new tundra lol.

I’m not trying to compare anyone to me I’m just saying to pay your debt as an accomplishment to a better life and worry free even though I made a small flex to keep them motivated like the phrase “ I can do better no you can’t yes I can” come on you gotta make a goal this year

Who gives a turd what guys do to their trucks, it’s there debt to pay…….
Plus, I like sitting in my stock truck in Panda’s parking lot eating my lunch and watching all the New trucks, all brands, driving by with more mods than they paid for the truck, on a freakin weekday wondering if I should’ve been a drug dealer instead of retiring……LOL, and, everything is so shiny, damn, it probably don’t even go on gravel roads, while hearing my wife keep saying what an ugly thing, why do they make it so high? Yah, I like retirement………

I do the same thing! I see my co workers buy new diesel grocery getters and tar babies and they will show off in various ways while I sit in my 11 year old stock truck.
Usually what goes through my mind is "I wonder what Registration is for that." While I pay $131 a year

Now remember this one had no mileage haha

Same here re the first part, always said keep the vehicle for double the time the loan is. I traded my Chevy Colorado in 2012 not a year after paying off but because it had a major engine failure and I found this truck. 9 years and 4 months now, and I have no intention of parting ways

We paid off our home over 10 years ago, put our kids through K-12 private school plus college. The younger one just finished graduate school in December, she’s 22. Our home is worth about 5 times what we paid for it. We have an investment portfolio, retirement, and savings. It’s about prioritizing, and having a long-horizon plan. We have bought our vehicles outright for the last 30 years or so and we do not have any outstanding debts. Cash only.
One thing we never did was buy an expensive vehicle, dump a metric shit-ton of money into a build, then sell it all at a loss six months later and then buy another financed, leased, or over priced vehicle and do it again. It’s hard to save money, it’s really easy to vaporize it.

Could have bought a Honda Ridgeline left it stock, and been just as capable as the modified Tacoma. While maintaining all of it's resale value.

Like the way you think. The wife and I are this type of overlander we tent camp every trip. We might stay one or two nights at a cheap hotel to get a nice clean shower . We like roughing it . Sooooo much better on the pocket book. I dd my Tacoma and it's our vacation truck for our camping trips state wide . I use every square inch of my truck and push every square inch of my truck 365 days a year . That's why I can say I do go over 39k miles a year . Use the f outta my truck . Side note still in mint condition 2017 146k miles original owner

Maybe we should change the thread to our wishlist of mods up to $20,000. :playball:
