Pretty much all my favorite newer toyota trucks. Wyatt, is there a thread for that DC 1st gen Taco? I've looked around on RST but cant find much. That is my dream rig.

^^^This is for the OP. A stock D60 shaft is about as strong as your Toyota 8" rear shafts are now...food for thought.

    Good stuff, love those trucks!

I'm leaning strongly towards ProRock 44's since the plan is 37's. http://www.off-roadweb.com/tech/1105or_dana_44_based_dynatrac_prorock_jk_axle_worlds_strongest/

Still researching of course but since cost is a factor and as I said I am not looking to go over 37's since this will be a drive to the trail and back rig
I think this might be the way to go. I have not found any complaints or a case of one ever breaking. There might be someone who has but its certainly rare.

I'm going to try and build as light as possible and the prorock 44 makes since in that reguard

Going to put in a call to Dynatrac and chat em up a bit I will update after I talk to them.

    This is my buddy's JK.

IIRC he's running curries F/R and he's had a lot of problems with the rear. Has gone through a couple ARBs, and he blames it on housing flex. He runs the maintenance side of a truck company so he's no slouch. He's pulling it out and going 14bolt. Jeep only has like 10k miles on it. :p

I have read similar stories on several forums myself which is why I have opted to stick with Dynatrac Prorocks vs the rockjocks.

Its like everything though some people have problems with currie and some dont but I don't find anything negative about Dynatrac.

I'm sure you could find some dude someplace who had his wheel cranked hard wedged up against a rock running a blown hemi on 42's that broke something after pinning the pedal to the floor but I wouldn't put any weight in his experience. You can only build to so much stupid:)

    Good looking Jeep!

Some little things here and there but the next major upgrade will be a turbo diesel.

It's more If i could afford to build it right, lol. Lacking any skill in fab work, all of it would have to be outsourced, and no way I could afford it. Trust me I'd love to have a setup like those, linked, sas, etc. Maybe one day. :D

I've run the Curries in the front and rear now for over 7 years without an issue. The ARB's have never failed me and I run the truss on the rear Rock Jock and have the older aluminum diff in the front without the truss. Not one issue.

Dynatracs are good and I looked at those at first but opted for the Curries. Since both are close to where I live I visited both of them and liked the folks at Currie better so thats the main reason I went with them since their products are so close. Plus I like the oiling system of the Curries better.

The silver 4Runner in the above pictures has Dynatracs front and rear. Good axle's.

I was originally gonna go with white simply because scratches dont show up as bad as on darker colors, but I think this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LE6QFg_t7c is what I'm going with. This color is one of those love it or hate it colors but when the jeep is all armored up sitting on 37's this color looks bad ass!

The one I was quoted on was 31k but it had some stuff I don't really want like tube steps and a bunch of cosmetic garbage so I told the chick to hack all that crap off and I wanted to be closer to 27k on the sport. We will see.

Supposed to have a couple buyers coming by this weekend to take a look at the truck. I am pretty close on negotiations for the jeep. After weighing the pros/cons looking at costs etc...

I scrapped the sport idea and about 90% on the Rubicon. Price difference is 5k give or take so not as much as I thought. THe Rubicon is just a nice rig off the lot and with minimal cash outlay I can have it riding on 37's pretty quickly. Tons of dudes are running 37's on stock wheels with spacers and although not ideal, it will get me by for while until I decide on beadlocks.

4:10 gears, again not ideal and will be changed eventually but again, tons of dudes are running 37's and 4.10's and claim its fine. The upgrade will be 5.13's.

So Tax season is here I'm expecting a refund that will get me tires and some armor to get me started.

So, its all coming together. Still gotta solidify the jeep deal and of course get the Tacoma Sold which hopefully happens within the next two weeks.

just to rub it in for you.... i just rode in my buddy's 2013 commando green 4 door JK rubicon. went up to the mountains to snowboard... i was in it from 498 miles to 630 miles :D

with that said.. his has heated Cloth seats which is awesome. Remote start which was awesome... and the BFG tires the rubicon comes with are extremely good in snow/slush/ice and are extremely quiet for how aggressive they are. Gas milage seems good.. he used less then half a tank of gas and that was sitting in traffic for 30 mins for a wreck.. and letting it run for 10 mins before leaving. The Rubicon also comes with selectable lockers (im sure you know) but you might not know that when its not 'locked' the rear is still a mechanical limited slip... extremely nice to have in normal 4 hi. and the 4:1 Tcase with the rubicon is great as well... really trying to talk you out of a sport since the rubicons are WELL worth the extra money and the resale of a rubicon will be much much higher.

also rubicon comes with hybrid dana 44 axles that 'Can' handle up to 40's if you baby it... or just dont drive like a moron. also has 4.10's that would be about perfect for 35's. you could run 37's but it will be under geared. If you live in the hills or mountains you'll have to regear for 37's.
