Hi tacoma people!! I have on my tacoma 08 the VIP RS3200 and I have test it today, when I tap with my hands on windows the alarm doesn't work, I think the sensibiity is poor. Do you know how to set the sensibility of the alarm? Problem is because I live in another country and can't return my truck to the dealer, I would like to set by myself if it's possible. Please help, thanks.

From Tahiti of french polynesia, the toyota dealer doesn't sell tacoma but hilux only but I love the look of the tacoma that's why I've purchased one in the USA, so no I have tap only with my hands and I had tap very high, I have not try with the key, but do you think with the key and the hand is not the same? If someone want to break my glass he can do it with his hand.

Is the alarm supposed to go off if you only tap on the window?

Or does it only go off when the window is broken?

It's a shock sensor, I believe, so it registers the impact that brakes the glass and not the actuall breaking of the glass. The window is mounted on rollers and sealed with rubber weatherstripping which absorb some of the shock you transmit by hitting the window.

To test it instead, try slapping, the A-pillar (between the windshield and the driver's side door window) with an open palm, with a moderate amount of force.

If it still does not go off, there should be a shock sensor controll box behind the driver's side kick pannel with a sensativity adjustment dial on it. it is numbered 1-7 if memory serves, 1 being least sensative and 7 being most sensative. I have mine set a little more than half-way, so 4 or 5.

    Regards,
