I was going down the road and trying to pass someone. I down shifted into 3rd cause that's how slow they were going. The truck made a weird noise as I shifted back into fourth. The truck is now shaking really bad when going down the road and even worse when at idle. What could be my problem?

Bad motor mount maybe... also maybe check ignition (plugs, wires) to see if all pistons are firing.

Check engine light stays on , just got the truck finished and haven't had a chance to run the code on it. It doesn't loose power while driving it.

Get the code read, they can do it at most parts stores, at least around here they do.

Need more background on the taco, mileage, maintenance and repairs that have been done, etc.

    4x4? Automatic? V6?

Edit: I see you mention the shifting, so i assume it's the manual tranny.

Yes it's manual, v6, and 4x4. I bought the truck with a rotted frame so I have done all the work on putting a new frame under it. So I have had everything off of it. New carrier bearing but that's about all I have put on that is new. 271k

Best bet is first to get the MIL read and go from there. It's kind of a vague description of the problem, but based on that vague description, it sounds to me like a coil pack has gone out. But don't buy one until you get the code(s) read. No sense in throwing money at it and hoping for a fix when there is am ECM that will tell us what part or system has malfunctioned. Then hopefully we have a much better chance at throwing money at the right parts. :D

Ok thanks , sorry for the vague description , that about all I know about the problem right now. I'll have the codes read and go from there. Thanks
