Hello all, I am new here and trying to come up with small mods to have dogs in the back row. I tried to do a search for dog setup in DC Tacomas. I couldn't find many. I am sure you all have tons of ideas on how to have them in back seat without destroying the seats and stopping them from jumping into front seat. maybe a removable safety net to block them getting into front seat?

I have a GSD, GSD + Husky and what I think is a Pit mutt.

Just get one of those backseat covers that work like a hammock - they attach to all four headrests. Protects the seats, serves as a barrier to jumping into the front with you, easy to remove/clean, water resistant, etc. Hell, they have some now with sides that hook to the "oh shit!" handles in back to protect the inside of your doors from sharp dog nails if your pooch likes to stand up and look out the windows.

Here's the one I have - it's great. The site says "today only - 60% off!" but they run that sale constantly. https://www.treatadog.com/products/pupprotector-car-seat-cover

So far this one has held up far better than others I've owned in the past. I've got three cattle dogs - 35, 40, and 45 lbs - so your mileage may vary. haha

I have a 2nd gen but I have a mesh get that separated the front seats from the back. Kinda like a police car lol

Got tires of them coming on the center console

This works for german shepherd and cattle dog....adding another gsd soon and there probably won’t be enough room back there

I have a basset hound that loves to get dirty, and of course that results in also very smelly. He sheds constantly, and drools constantly. Which was fine for my old Tacoma at the time, but when I bought a new one (6 years ago), the best investment I made was buying a cap, and bedrug. The inside of my cab is still like new, and the he is comfortable in the back.

I have a full grown GSD and a 5 month GSD and they both fit in my backseat. I use the hammock as well except I use it with the seats folded down all the way. It gives them more room to lay down along with a more stable surface for them to stand on. I connect the hammock driver and passenger headrests then onto some of the hooks that are on the back panels below the window.

I just fold down the backseats and let them have the tray. The bottom seat itself blocks the front access some, and you can stick a box or something there if you need more. Have a husky and american Eskimo that share the back

For me figuring out a workable solution is an on-going puzzle. I've got a 140# Great Dane. The hammock might work but I'd need a small crane to help lift him up into it. He's not much of a jumper and my upper body strength isn't what it used to be.

His predecessor was a Lab and was quite happy in the bed of the truck (truck has a shell and carpeted bed mat). The current Shell is, however, cab height and the dog is better than 32-inches tall at his shoulder.

I'd think a Great Dane could just be loaded up like an ambulance stretcher. Just slide him in and let the legs fold up.

Those Zinger dog crates look awesome and some are apparently customizable. Too bad Zinger charges a small fortune for their larger crates.

Considering what people around here spend on tires that never leave pavement, roof racks that never carry anything more than maxtrax, and LED bars that never get used for anything more than blinding oncoming highway traffic, a proper crate to protect your best friend doesn't seem like such a bad buy :)

I do wish Zinger had more crate sizes available. If this crate was 3-4" shorter, it would be absolutely perfect.
