My 2016 dcsb offroad was stuck in park. Used over ride button. All fuses good. Brake switch good. Actuate r solenoid good. I was stumped. I cleaned my negative post on the battery terminal and that appeared to be the problem. Something to try. Has been working for over a month now. Just another possibility.

I have to use the override switch every time i pull out of park, and I have also noticed when I use my cruise control and apply brakes that sometimes the light starts flashing and sometimes it stays solid like it is supposed to.

You have an intermittent brake switch.

I suspect exactly what you're describing is happening to me.
    What I know:
    • Im pretty sure my booster has a small vac leak because when depressed and then pushing harder than normal I hear a whistle.
    • on a handful of occasions when I've had to panic brake the pedal got really hard, but the truck was barely slowing down. This primarily happens when accelerating from a full stop and then rapidly switching from accelerator to brake pedal.
    • the brake light switch bumper/stopper (little plastic piece that holds the brake light switch in when not pushing brake pedal) broke and I couldn't find one anywhere near me so I taped a few pennies together and then to the place where it snaps in and it fixed my brake lights staying on even when the truck was off and no key in ignition
    • I recently decided to install Toyota OEM Cruise Control. After doing extensive research I was pretty sure my truck just needed the cruise switch to work. Bought it, plugged it in and mounted it...got a green flashing "Cruise" on the dash. Remembered reading that the brake light switch might need to be swapped with the cruise version, but again couldn't find a Toyota OEM one anywhere near me so I bought 1 of only 2 aftermarket ones available nearby. The one I bought looked exactly like the Toyota one. Installed it and the flashing "Cruise" was now a constant "Cruise". Took it for a test drive and tested all of the functions and it works. The only thing that didn't seem to work all the time was the memory recall function. If I use the cruise lever to "Cancel" a set cruise speed, I only have about 5 seconds to "Resume" before it won't resume the last set speed. If I use the brake pedal to cancel a set speed it won't resume the speed no matter how quickly I do it.

I installed it about 2 months ago and had no issues with it, but just last week I was cruising at about 70mph and tried to push the brake to release the cruise, but it wouldn't let me push the brake and felt similar to how I described above that I had attributed to a booster leak. It's only done this the one time. Since then several times that I've had the cruise on and then put the truck into park or reverse after I've been driving using the cruise, the dash indicator will start flashing and I have to turn the cruise off and back on to work again. The most problematic issue that started the same time as the flashing recently is that the 4 speed auto floor shifter has been getting stuck in Park. I noticed it usually does it if I don't fully depress the brake pedal, slowly and wait about 1-2 secs before pushing in the shift release button before attempting to shift the lever. If I try and do it too fast or don't have the brake all the way pushed in before attempting to shift or whatever then it locks up. Happened in a Whataburger drive through line last night. I wonder if swapping the brake light switch for an OEM one and/or replacing the booster will make a difference.
